From Dead-Silent to Breeze Master: My Standing Fan Resurrection Saga

in DIYHub10 months ago

Hi guys, today I will be sharing DIY content that I did yesterday as a result of my standing fan. It happened that I was at home some days ago, and I noticed my standing fan had not been producing enough air in the room. I decided to check what might have gone wrong, and I noticed that the capacitor was faulty. Although it was still working, sometimes it stops by itself, won't start again, and just keeps producing unnecessary sound.

Going out yesterday, I decided to go to the electrical store to get a new capacitor for my fan. On getting there, I was unable to get the type of capacitor I wanted because the one in the fan is 1.8 uF and the one available in the store is from 2.2uf. I had to buy that one like that because of this current time that one needs to have enough air supply because of the heat. I bought it like that and took it home.

When I got home, I decided to sit with the fan and fix the capacitor. I took out my tools, and I started losing the fan until the last point, which is where the capacitor is located. That means I got into the brain box of the fan. When I got there, I discovered that I would not want to take out the former capacitor in total because of the way it was coupled with the coil, so I didn't want to go through more stress than what I had faced before.

I then cut the wire into two so that I would be able to connect the new capacitor to it. After connecting, I fixed it a bit to be sure if it would work or not. After plugging it in, it started working, but not at the pace I wanted because I didn't use it with a stabilizer.

I started fixing the fan after going through the process of fixing the capacitor and its wires. When I was almost done fixing, I was planning to return the brain box of the fan into its case before I noticed I made a mistake in the fixing, and I had to lose back and fix it again until it was done, and after that, I had to plug it into a power source to see the work. Lo and behold, it came out nice, and now I am able to relax and sleep as the fan continues to do its work for me.

That mistake you did ,I’m sure if it was me I would have given up because loosening the screws again?
No oo
You did a great job.

Lol. Thanks ma'am. That's why we are two different people

Glad to know the problem is fixed and your fan is working fine. Now it is time to enjoy the air and relax. 😊

Yeah, you are very correct. Now I can sleep with my two eyes closed 😁

Good on you brother. Nice work.

I will be sending my fans over now, haha
