Today, I'm back on the hammock. I spent my afternoon relaxing in my hammock. The weather was perfect for swinging back and forth. While I was resting, I heard a loud chirping sound just above me.
At first, I couldn't see what was making the noise. I can't quite point my fingers to where it was coming from. I looked through the thick green leaves, but nothing was there. The chirping grew louder and louder until a tiny shape hopped onto a twig right over my head.
It was a beautiful small bird. It was just about 2 inches in length. I looked closely and noticed its bright colors. It had a vibrant yellow belly that stood out against the green leaves. Its throat was a dark, shimmering blue-black color. The head, I think, was brownish green. It had a long, thin beak that curved slightly downward.
I stayed very still so I wouldn't scare it away. I managed to take a few photos while it explored the branches.
After a few minutes, the bird flew to a higher branch further up the tree. Even though it moved away, it didn't stop making noise. It kept on chirping happily, sounding just like it was singing a song for the whole neighborhood to hear. 😁
It was a simple, lovely afternoon.
