Harry’s nerves before the match
November arrives, and Harry is anxious about his first Quidditch game against Slytherin. To prepare, he borrows Quidditch Through the Ages from Hermione, eager to learn more about the sport. Snape’s suspicious behavior . While carrying the book outside, Harry is caught by Snape, who confiscates it. Harry notices Snape is limping. Later, he overhears Snape with Filch, who is bandaging Snape’s injured leg. Snape mutters about “keeping your eyes on all three heads at once,” which makes Harry realize Snape tried to get past the three-headed dog guarding the trapdoor. The Quidditch match begins Gryffindor faces Slytherin in a tense game. Harry, as Seeker, is determined to prove himself. The crowd cheers, but suddenly his broom begins to buck and twist violently, as if cursed. Hermione’s quick action. Hermione notices Snape staring at Harry and muttering under his breath. Convinced Snape is jinxing the broom, she rushes to the stands, sets Snape’s robes on fire, and breaks his concentration. Harry regains control of his broom.Harry’s spectacular victory.Harry spots the Golden Snitch and catches it in dramatic fashion—nearly swallowing it. Gryffindor wins the match, and Harry becomes a hero to his house.
Harry grows convinced Snape is trying to steal whatever the dog is guarding.Despite danger, Harry shows bravery and natural talent, earning respect from Gryffindor.Snape’s injury and apparent curse deepen the mystery around the Sorcerer’s Stone.
