Through the community, I've been sharing with you the growth of the first cats of my life.
I can't deny that they've stolen my heart.
Contrary to what I thought, they are affectionate, homey, and playful cats.
They've grown so much over these 4 months. I remember carrying them both in one hand. Now, each weighs a little over 2 pounds, and yet, they still look skinny.
It's been interesting to see how each one has its own personality and habits, just like people.
Nefertiti, for example, has a habit of sleeping at the foot of our bed or on my little stepson's pillow.
And of course, she also has her own strange way of sleeping, twisted all over.
Amateratsu is the one who sleeps with us every day. Like a little girl, she lies on my chest, or my husband's, or between us. She's very sensitive to the cold and always seeks the warmth of the comforter.
I remember telling them we brought them home because my wife has always had cats and suddenly found herself without one.
I was sad.
These kittens have brought joy back to the family.
And on the other hand, from a practical point of view, since we have a huge yard at the back of the house, my idea was for them to hunt mice, cockroaches, and any other animal that might enter the yard and infect us with a disease.
They are both excellent hunters.
Amateratsu was the first to hunt. She captured a butterfly. However, the first to catch a mouse was Nefertiti.
It was from her that I learned what the "game of cat and mouse" really is.
Following their prey, they have even climbed banana trees, grape vines, and anywhere else they try to hide.
But when they're not in hunter mode, they're very affectionate and Attached to us.
They spend the entire day playing and surprising us with their antics, their jumps, somersaults, tail chasing, sleeping positions, and chosen places to rest, such as a basket.
They've grown up. It's true that they're almost teenagers now. However, in my eyes, they're still those little kittens that fit in my hand.

Hola, amigos de los #gatos alrededor del mundo.
A través de la comunidad he estado compartiéndoles el crecimiento de las primeras gatas de mi vida.
No puedo negarles que me ha robado el corazón.
Contrario a lo que pensaba, son gatas cariñosas, hogareñas y juguetonas.
Han crecido muchísimo durante estos 4 meses. Recuerdo que las traje a las 2 en una mano. Ahora, cada una pesa un poco más de 2 libras y sin embargo, aún las veo flaquitas.
Ha resultado interesante ver cómo cada una tiene su propia personalidad y hábitos. Tal y como si fueran personas.
Nefertiti por ejemplo, tiene la costumbre de dormir a los pies de la cama nuestra o en la almohada de mis hijastro pequeño.
Y claro, también tiene su forma extraña de dormir, así retorcida.
Amateratsu es la que duerme con nosotros a diario. Como si fuera una niña chiquita, se acuesta sobre mi pecho, o el de mi espos, o entre los dos. Es muy friolenta y lo que busca siempre es el calor del edredón.
Recuerdo haberles dicho que las llevamos a la casa, debido a que mi esposa siempre ha tenido gatas y de pronto se quedó sin ninguna.
Estaba triste.
Estas gaticas le han devuelto la alegría a la familia.
Y por otro lado, desde un punto de vista práctico, ya que tenemos un patio enorme al fondo de la casa, mi idea era de que cazaran ratones, cucarachas y cualquier otro animal que pudiera entrar al patio y contagiarnos alguna enfermedad.
Ambas son excelentes cazadoras.
Amateratsu fue la primera en cazar. Capturó a una mariposa. Sin embargo, la que primero cazó a un ratón, fue Nefertiti.
Con ella fue con la que aprendí lo que realmente es “el juego del gato y el ratón”.
Al caerles detrás a sus presas, han llegado a subirse a las matas de plátano, a las de uva y para cualquier lugar donde intenten esconderse.
Pero cuando no están con su modo cazador activado, son unas gatas muy cariñosas y apegadas a nosotros.
Se pasan el día entero jugando y sorprendiéndonos con sus ocurrencias, sus saltos, volteretas, persecución de cola, posiciones de dormir y lugares elegidos para descansar, como por ejemplo, una cesta.
Han crecido. Es verdad que ya son casi unas adolescentes. Sin embargo, a mis ojos todavía son aquellas pequeñas gaticas que cabían en mi mano.
