I had long wanted to go to this work of art (although I am from Caracas), I had many years living outside, and until not long ago, they remodeled that area so that tourists could visit it and take pictures, as I was able to do today.
This piece of sculpture was made by a famous Venezuelan plastic artist named Jesús Soto and is located on the southern slope of the Santa Cecilia distributor of the Francisco Fajardo highway (today Gran Cacique Guaicaipuro highway).
"La Bola de Soto" is the colloquial name given to the most important work of the Venezuelan plastic artist Jesús Soto. The real name of this kinetic art sculpture is "Esfera Caracas" and it was inaugurated in 1997, composed of 1,800 hollow aluminum rods suspended on a 12-meter-high portico-like metallic structure.
Although I went during the day and appreciated it a lot, I must confess that at night it looks spectacular, I hope to go soon and take some better pictures with lights to appreciate it in all its splendor.
The entrance is free, however they ask for a small contribution if you can afford it so that those who take care of the place day and night, can keep the place clean and clean, which I think is really good, since the salaries in Venezuela are not the best.

Tenía mucho tiempo queriendo ir a esta obra de arte (que aunque soy de Caracas), tenía muchos años viviendo fuera, y hasta hace no mucho, remodelaron esa área para que los turistas pudieran visitarla y tomarse fotos, como lo pude hacer yo hoy.
Esta pieza de escultura fue hecha por un famoso artista plástico venezolano llamado Jesús Soto y está ubicada en la ladera sur del distribuidor Santa Cecilia de la autopista Francisco Fajardo (hoy autopista Gran Cacique Guaicaipuro).
“La Bola de Soto” es el nombre coloquial que se le da a la obra más importante del artista plástico venezolano Jesús Soto. El verdadero nombre de esta escultura de arte cinético es “Esfera Caracas” y se inaugurada en el año 1997, compuesta por 1.800 varillas huecas de aluminio suspendidas en una estructura metálica tipo pórtico de 12 metros de altura.
Aunque fui de día y lo aprecié bastante, debo confesar que en la noche se ve espectacular, espero poder ir pronto y tomar unas fotografías mejores con luces para que la aprecien en todo su esplendor.
La entrada es gratuita, sin wmbargo piden una pequeña colaboración si está en tus posibilidades para que los que cuidan el lugar día y noche, puedan mantener el lugar con segutidad y liimpio, lo que me parece realmente bueno, ya que los sueldos de Venezuela no es que sean los mejores.
Espero que les haya gustado y si vienen a Caracas, esta debería ser una parada obligatoria.
