Detrás de cada historia hemos encontrado grandes enseñanzas de vida, también consejos oportunos y valiosos.
La cita de hoy es con @irvinc, un hiver que a través de sus conocimientos, pedagogía y calidez humana ha creado una reputación respetable. Sus reflexiones las ha inmortalizado en las comunidades Holos&Lotus y Beentrepreneur, donde asume papales como moderador y curador.

1. Cuéntanos un poco de ti. ¿Quién eres fuera de la pantalla de Hive? (Profesión, hobbies, de dónde eres, etc.)
Soy Irvin Colmenares, profesor jubilado, padre de cuatro hijos y abuelo de cuatro nietas. Nací en Caracas, pero desde hace cincuenta años vivo en Maracay, mi ciudad de adopción, donde he hecho mi vida, he criado a mi familia y he sido muy feliz. Me gusta leer, escribir, caminar por la naturaleza, nadar, escuchar música y tomar fotografías.
2. ¿Cómo llegaste a Hive y cuál fue tu primera impresión?
A finales de 2017 una sobrina me dijo que había un sitio llamado Steemit donde podían recompensar mis escritos. Para ese entonces yo tenía la costumbre de escribir con periodicidad, había tenido dos columnas en periódicos locales y siempre dejaba uno que otro comentario en el facebook sobre el momento político que estábamos viviendo los venezolanos.
Los primeros meses de 2018 me dediqué a investigar todo lo que pude sobre ese nuevo sitio, aprendí por mi cuenta lo básico para maquetar las publicaciones; hice mi registro y continué investigando hasta que logré mi primera publicación el 18 de marzo.
Desde el comienzo me pareció el sitio ideal para una persona jubilada como yo, ese mismo año se fue del país mi última hija y estar acá en la blockchain me ayudó a superar el duelo. Por aquellos días mi vista estaba mucho mejor y pasaba hasta catorce horas metido en las cosas de aquí. Ahora mi vista está un poco dañada y he tenido que bajar mis actividades al mínimo, casi me limito únicamente a publicar cuatro veces a la semana.
3. ¿Cuál es la diferencia más grande que ves entre las redes sociales convencionales (como Facebook, Instagram, tik tok, etc) y las redes sociales que hay dentro de Hive?
La diferencia más grande que veo es que acá en HIVE hemos ido estableciendo una ética del buen trabajo y del respeto a los demás. Casi todo lo que se publica tiene una calidad bastante aceptable y el buen trato se ha constituido en nuestra forma de ser cuando estamos en la blockchain, ninguna de las dos cosas se consiguen fácilmente en las redes sociales tradicionales.
4. Si tuvieras que definir Hive en una sola frase, ¿cuál sería?
Una experiencia transformadora.
5. ¿En qué comunidades sueles publicar o interactuar con mayor frecuencia y por qué?
En la actualidad publico en la comunidad de @holos-lotus donde también soy curador, allí hemos logrado crear un gran ambiente, se discuten temas importantes y contamos con un gran número de buenos escritores. También escribo en @beentrepreneur donde ayudo un poco con la moderación a mi esposa @damarysvibra, creadora del sitio. Además dejo publicaciones en @silverbloggers, una comunidad donde convergen muchas personas mayores, allí he hecho buenas amistades. Otra comunidad en la que escribo es @music, donde voy llevando una especie de memoria personal inspirada en temas musicales, también me han recibido con mucho cariño. Como dije arriba no puedo pasar de estas cuatro publicaciones a la semana debido a mis problemas visuales, me cansa mucho la exposición a las pantallas.
6. ¿Cuál ha sido tu mayor logro o la experiencia más gratificante que has tenido en Hive hasta ahora?
Una buena experiencia la tuve en la desaparecida comunidad de @cervantes, allí llegué a formar parte del equipo editorial y tenía una columna fija con periodicidad. Ahora formo parte del equipo de @holos-lotus, donde aparte de estar como curador participo en todas las conversaciones que tienen que ver con el desarrollo de la comunidad. Estar en esas actividades es algo que me da una gran satisfacción.
7. ¿Qué fue lo más difícil de aprender en tus inicios?
Lo más difícil de aprender fue lo relativo al maquetado de las publicaciones, nunca antes había trabajado con comandos de ese tipo y en realidad me costó bastante.
8. ¿Cómo describirías tu visión a futuro dentro del ecosistema de Hive?
El ecosistema como tal puede tener buenas perspectivas, todo depende del desarrollo y la adopción que vaya teniendo el mundo cripto en general, creo que estamos en presencia de una tecnología con muchas posibilidades.
9. ¿Qué consejo le darías a un hiver que apenas está comenzado?
Mi principal recomendación es que no se centren en las recompensas. Acá es importante ocuparse de hacer las cosas bien y sobre todo de jugar limpio, ser honesto con el trabajo que damos a conocer a la comunidad. En HIVE es importante la reputación que nos vamos haciendo en nuestras interacciones diarias. Otra recomendación es que investiguen, HIVE es un sitio con muchas posibilidades y hay que investigar para poder caer en cuenta de ese potencial. También es muy importante cultivar buenas relaciones con el resto de la comunidad, son los otros integrantes los que nos ayudan a abrir puertas. Todo el trabajo que se haga con amor y responsabilidad en algún momento comienza a dejar sus frutos.
10. Si quieres explicarle Hive a un familiar o amigo, para que se una a la plataforma, ¿qué le dirías para convencerlo?
Le diría que en HIVE tiene un sitio donde puede desarrollar todas sus potencialidades, además de que ocasionalmente puede recibir alguna recompensa por ello. Pero lo más importante es tener un espacio para expresarse de manera libre.
11. Para finalizar, ¿Has tenido alguna experiencia directa con Hispapro? Si es así, ¿qué tal ha sido?
De @hispapro he recibido apoyo y orientación para resolver muchas dudas, cada vez que no he sabido resolver algo he preguntado acá y siempre hay alguien dispuesto a ayudar. Ese espíritu de colaboración es uno de los grandes avales de esta comunidad.

Today's guest is @irvinc, a Hiver who has built a respectable reputation through his knowledge, teaching skills, and human warmth. He has immortalized his reflections in the Holos&Lotus and Beentrepreneur communities, where he serves as a moderator and curator.

1. Tell us a little about yourself. Who are you outside of Hive? (Profession, hobbies, where you're from, etc.)
I'm Irvin Colmenares, a retired teacher, father of four children, and grandfather of four granddaughters. I was born in Caracas, but for the past fifty years I have lived in Maracay, my adopted city, where I have made my life, raised my family, and been very happy. I like to read, write, walk in nature, swim, listen to music, and take pictures.
2. How did you come to Hive and what was your first impression?
At the end of 2017, a niece told me about a site called Steemit where my writing could be rewarded. At that time, I was in the habit of writing regularly. I had had two columns in local newspapers and always left the occasional comment on Facebook about the political situation we Venezuelans were experiencing.
In the first few months of 2018, I dedicated myself to researching everything I could about this new site. I taught myself the basics of formatting posts, registered, and continued researching until I made my first post on March 18.
From the beginning, it seemed like the ideal place for a retiree like me. That same year, my youngest daughter left the country, and being here on the blockchain helped me get through my grief. Back then, my eyesight was much better, and I would spend up to fourteen hours immersed in what was going on here. Now my eyesight is a little damaged, and I've had to cut back on my activities to a minimum. I almost limit myself to posting only four times a week.
3. What is the biggest difference you see between conventional social networks (such as Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, etc.) and the social networks within Hive?
The biggest difference I see is that here at HIVE we have established an ethic of good work and respect for others. Almost everything that is published is of fairly acceptable quality, and treating each other well has become our way of being when we are on the blockchain. Neither of these things are easily achieved on traditional social media.
4. If you had to define Hive in a single sentence, what would it be?
A transformative experience.
5. In which communities do you usually post or interact most frequently, and why?
I currently post in the @holos-lotus community, where I am also a curator. We have managed to create a great atmosphere there, discussing important topics and attracting a large number of talented writers. I also write on @beentrepreneur, where I help my wife @damarysvibra, the site's creator, with moderation. I also post on @silverbloggers, a community where many older people converge, and I have made some good friends there. Another community I write in is @music, where I keep a kind of personal diary inspired by musical themes. They have also welcomed me with open arms. As I said above, I can't go beyond these four posts a week due to my visual problems. Exposure to screens tires me out a lot.
6. What has been your greatest achievement or most rewarding experience at Hive so far?
I had a good experience in the now defunct @cervantes community, where I became part of the editorial team and had a regular column. Now I'm part of the @holos-lotus team, where, apart from being a curator, I participate in all conversations related to community development. Being involved in these activities gives me great satisfaction.
7. What was the most difficult thing to learn when you started out?
The most difficult thing to learn was how to layout publications. I had never worked with commands of that type before, and it was actually quite difficult for me.
8. How would you describe your vision for the future within the Hive ecosystem?
The ecosystem itself has good prospects; it all depends on the development and adoption of the crypto world in general. I believe we are witnessing a technology with many possibilities.
9. What advice would you give to a Hiver who is just starting out?
My main recommendation is not to focus on the rewards. Here, it is important to do things right and, above all, to play fair and be honest with the work we share with the community. In HIVE, the reputation we build in our daily interactions is important. Another recommendation is to do your research. HIVE is a site with many possibilities, and you have to do your research to realize that potential. It is also very important to cultivate good relationships with the rest of the community. It is the other members who help us open doors. All work done with love and responsibility will eventually begin to bear fruit.
10. If you wanted to explain Hive to a family member or friend to get them to join the platform, what would you say to convince them?
I would tell them that HIVE is a place where they can develop their full potential, and that they can occasionally receive rewards for doing so. But the most important thing is that it's a space where they can express themselves freely.
11. Finally, have you had any direct experience with Hispapro? If so, what has it been like?
I have received support and guidance from @hispapro to resolve many questions. Whenever I haven't known how to solve something, I have asked here and there is always someone willing to help. That spirit of collaboration is one of the great strengths of this community.
