Hello and Welcome back to my blog!
Let's continue our journey of Hollow Knight right from where we stopped the last time. We defeated the Watcher Knights and woke up one of the dreamers and now we need to find two more dreamers so we can open the mysterious Temple of Time. We were still in the City of Tears and the next mask that I could see was way in the west. So, I had to go to the nearest Stag Station to get quick travel to that part of the Hallownest.
But first I decided to go to the Forgotten Crossroads and pay a visit to Grub's father and collect my rewards for saving some more Grubs on this adventure. He pays me for every grub that I save. I went to the Stag Station and hopped on the back of the Stag to reach the Crossroads.
But wait! It was not the same! It had become the 'Infected' Crossroads with many roads completely blocked by the infectious bubbles. This would mean more travel time and fewer shortcuts in this place.
Not only some paths were blocked but the whole place was infected which mutated so many bugs and they became faster, stronger and more dangerous. Look at these infected mosquitoes.
These were normal 'Vengeflies' before the infection and they now became 'Infected Vengeflies' which are faster, beefier and explode upon death.
So many other bugs were infected too which made Crossroads a bit more dangerous place now. It became more explosive!
After killing more bugs on my way and taking more revenge I reached the Grub father's room. He was delighted to see me and showered Geos on me. He gave me around 900 Geo and a Hallownest Seal which I can sell for more Geos!
I wanted to go to that Lady who sells Charms and Charm Notches, in the southeastern part of the Crossroads. I couldn't remember what I had left to buy from that shop but now I had enough Geo and I was here so it was worth having a look again.
But most easy paths were blocked and I had to take longer routes.
I also went into the HotSpring room to see if it got infected too but no, this was not changed. Those two friendly bugs were enjoying themselves in there just like before.
I don't know how I missed this path (must be because I didn't have a double jump before) but it was full of those big drilling worms. It wasn't that challenging though.
The reward at the end of this section was a valuable mask shard! I am now just one more mask shard away from permanently increasing my maximum health!
I reached the lower section of the Crossroads and saw Sly's hut. I was curious to see if something changed inside it but nope, it was just a small empty room.
However, on the outside, there were some infected bugs, one of them being a bomber guy who just runs towards you and explodes. I fooled him and that was funny.
Finally, I was at her shop. She was almost out with just a Charm Notch left to buy but I couldn't buy it until I collected 2 more charms. There are still some sections of the map left to explore and I am sure I will easily get two more.
I climb over the shop which leads to a big blue lake and lets you go back to the City. The lake was a good change after the infected crossroads, it was much calmer and quieter!
But that didn't last long and that big knight still gives me a lot of difficulty.
I used the elevator to go back to the City and find a place to rest. I found a locked chest which could still be exploited by a bug or is that a feature? Anyway, you can hit that chest from outside the wall and I had a long nail equipped, maybe it helped my nail reach the other side of the wall or it was just an exploit. This only works if you have the swarming bees charms equipped so the bees would collect the Geos and you don't have to worry about opening that locked door.
I had to take some rest after all the tough challenges in the Infected Crossroads. I loved to go back to the Crossroads again and again as it connects to many sections of the map. It was very efficient to go there and then choose your path but now that most of the paths are blocks in there and the infection has made it more dangerous, I might ignore it and go there only when I need to go.
