Addiction is a major problem. In fact, it is a worldwide problem. The culture of addiction has redefined our society such that doing what is inhumane seems to be a norm in our communities. So many people are practicing what is absurd without any restrain. Our youths are gradually losing their lives because of addiction. They cannot stop themselves from taking in harmful substances into their bodies. The take in substances that have damaged their brains and rendered them unprofitable to the society. Imagine the problem that addiction has brought to the world. There is nothing good about getting one's self addicted.
The problem of addiction comes from inability to term our passion. It is the passion of the flesh that makes us to become addicted. Our body loves pleasure. We are so much attracted bodily to those things that gives our flesh pleasure. The sad news is that most of these substances that we think that they are desirable to our body are harmful to us. Some of those drugs can kill our brain cells. The young people who engage in the consumption of these drugs do not actually realize that they are killing their lives. Addiction causes the world a whole lot of damages.
To overcome addiction, we need to listen to the word of God and obey them. When someone has the fear of God in his life, he will be able to control himself. Without self-control, coming out of addiction will not be possible. We do not have the power in ourselves to overcome the passions of the flesh. The flesh loves pleasure. To overcome this carnal pleasures that lure people into addiction, we must submit ourselves to the word of God and the Holy Spirit.
