There is always profitability with obedience to the will of God. God delights in obedience. The will of God is very important to us a children of God. If we don't obey the Word of God and what it says then our Christianity is to be questioned. Every act of disobedience of refusal of God's Word puts our lives at risk.
An example of disobedience that led to consequences was when Moses was leading to Israelites out of the land of Egypt to the promised land and they got to a place where they needed water and God instructed Moses to raise his staff, but of heeding to the instructions of God, out of frustration and lsraelites he hit the staff on the rock. This act of disobedience debarred him from entering the promise land.
Disobedience doesn't usually end in a good outcome. That instruction that seem simple that we ignore may result to repercussions that we may face later in the future. Everything God instructs us to do is for our own good. It may look overwhelming at first but as long as it is coming from God it is always for a greater good. As christians we don't do things on our own accord. We do it in accordance to God's Word.
