Being able to understand the bible is something that should be of major. It's not just by reading, but being able to understand and make sense of what it is talking about. When reading the word of God we need to seek for the wisdom to understand and get insight of what it is talking about.
God is pleased when we go through His Word and not depart from it. The Word of God is something that requires continuous study and meditation. It is not something done as a means of passing time. It is an intentional decision. The Word of God contains light.
Psalm 119:130 - The entrance of thy words giveth light; It giveth understanding unto the simple.
Living outside the Word of God means living in darkness. The more we go through the Word of God the more we are enlightened. The same way our body needs physical food so does our spirits need spiritual food, and the spiritual food that our spirit feeds on is the word of God. Does who read and understand the bible are not easily moved or fall into the deceit of the enemy.
When we are faced with the enemy we don't use physical strength to face them. How we truly overcome is by how much of the Word of God we have stored up in us. When the devil came to try Jesus after He was done fasting, what Jesus used to Over the devil wasn't with His physical strength or any physical weapon, but simply by the word of God.
