I know you've read the topic and pumpkin lovers are confused but that's true,it's actually my first time tasting pumpkin.

Not that i haven’t seen it before, but i never knew it was the popular pumpkin everyone writes about in their different food posts and Halloween posts, (we don't celebrate Halloween here in my country and that's one of the reason i never knew that's actually the popular pumpkin).

I usually see it at my father's farm but the most important thing is the seeds for planting and the leafs, which are used for cooking but my dad has never cooked it nor tell us whether it's edible or not.
Maybe he's not also aware.

I went to visit my mom in-law and saw it in her kitchen.
I asked her about it and she told me how wonderful it is.
I asked her if i could take it and luckily she agreed.
I had to use Google len to search the name and when i found out it was the popular pumpkin everyone talks about, i decided to try but start with something more simple and get to know the taste.

Below is a step-by-step guide of how i made it.

Ingredients used

  • 1pumpkin
  • 1 and half cup of water

Like i said before, i wanted to make a simple dish first before experimenting it in desserts and the rest.

How i prepared it

Wash and cut the pumpkin

  • Firstly: i washed the pumpkin using a clean water and salt.
Using a knife,i cut it into two equal size and set aside

Put in a clean pot

  • Secondly: i put it inside a clean pot and added 1 and half cup of water (enough water to cover it)

remove the seeds and serve

  • Remove the pumpkin from the pot, remove the seeds and serve.
I served mine using a plantain leaf .

Results

I love it's yellowish color, it's attractive to the eyes.
Aside its nice color, it also taste nice but not too sweet ,just normal.
It taste like three leaf yam (a popular yam in my country).
My mom in-law told me about it's health benefits, so i would say that it's healthy to consume .
Maybe next time, i would try using it as a main ingredient in desserts or drinks and see how it goes.
I'm super excited that I've finally met the popular pumpkin and also had a taste of it.
