Hello plant-based foodies, wherever you are in the world and/or galaxy! Here @sirenahippie

Following the example of our sister community, Amazing Drinks, today we're launching a new type of contest in the Plant Power (Vegan) community. It's a mini comment contest. To participate, just leave a good comment on this post. You don't need to post anything, just a nice comment at the end. This week's theme is: WHICH ONIONS DO YOU LIKE BETTER, YELLOW, WHITE OR PURPLE?

image.png

The choice of this topic is due to the fact that onions are a fundamental part of vegan cuisine, adding flavor, aroma, and a lot of seasoning to our recipes. Into the main types of onions include yellow, white, and red, each with its own characteristics and unique features. So, we're interested in learning your preferences.

My participation in the mini vegan contest.

I love purple and white onions but my most favorite is purple onion. It's sweetness, aroma and deep flavor is amazing and the purple color is so appealing to me . I use it almost in every dishes. I love how it makes me cry without no reason but the healing effect on my vision is amazing.
For the white onions, I love them in salads because of their milder flavor and texture. I don't think if I have used white onions in any other dishes except in salads and when they are not available I still make use of purple onions I love them a lot. @mimigold and @iamchimary cooks with onions I'd love to know your favorites.

I love the purple onion, I doubt it I can cook without it.

Thanks for your participation @ladyfoth

Hi @ladyfoth

Red onions are delicious, and yes, they look great in dishes, although I think their flavor is milder than white onions. However, both are delicious in any savory recipe, whether it's a salad, a stew, a soup, or a stir-fry. Thank you for participating in the vegan mini-contest.

My participation in the mini contest. My preference goes to purple and white onion. The purple onion is widely used in kitchen though the white is also used but mostly especially for our vegetable salad. I love eating my onion in sauce or raw in Africa salad, it gives it a special taste.
@empressjay does well purple onion and @marajah even eats it raw some times. You people should come and participate in this mini contest. The only ingredients that makes one cry with a reason. Have you ever cried before because of onion? If you have a matured one I doubt why you won't cry cutting it for your cook.

I haven't seen the yellow and red one if i do, i will love try it.

Hi @iamchimary

Red and white onions are delicious, and yes, as you say, they add a unique flavor to sauces and salads. They also need to be ripe, as I've seen them sometimes harvested early and have a plastic-like taste, so farmers should wait for the right time to harvest them. And of course, it's nice to cry when you cut an onion.

Thank you for participating in the vegan mini-contest.

Thanks for your participation @iamchimary

This is my participation in the mini vegan contest:

The onion I use the most and the one I like the most is the white onion, especially in cooked dishes such as soups and sauces because it has a strong flavor that modifies the seasoning in food. I use purple onion very little in salads and raw dishes because it has a sweeter and more delicate flavor. So to answer the question, the onion I like the most is the white one and when it stings my eyes is when it is at its peak.

Hi @gpache

White onions are always delicious. They elevate the flavor of dishes to the heavens, are very versatile, and even filling.

Thanks for your participation @gpache

I like white onions too. There are delicious especially when use in fried rice

We look forward to your participation @yummycruz1!

It depends from the dish I cook but honestly o think the white it's the more versatile but I also use often the red one that are more flavoured 🤤

Certainly. We look forward to your participation @noemilunastorta!

Nothing beats the purple onions 🧅. I love it most because its more flavorful. I love how it makes me cry while cutting it, haha 😆••••• that’s the first flavor before cooking it.

I invite @nurfay because she cooks and love onions. @hive.samadi loves onions too.

Sending love 💕 friends.
