I'm still proposing the Little Prince Awards. Children's literature is magical. Let's say no more, let's get to know today's book.
Poetry Prize, 2004. Antonio Gutiérrez Rodríguez. Para subir a los sueños (To Rise to Dreams) is the book with which the author won this award in 2004. A book full of tenderness, divided into three parts, or as the author called it, three steps, determining that to ascend, a ladder is necessary. And like an exquisite decimario of octosyllabic verses, children learn about the adventures of the characters who inhabit these pages.
On the first step, Guille plays with a monkey, a giraffe, a macaw, and two nightingales. Guille is strolling through the zoo. Amidst consonant rhymes, a loom weaves threads and knits a stuffed bear. Pippa Longstockings is now a UFO pilot and has moved on from history; she no longer lives in stories, now she's happy in a tenth of a village.
The children play rounds in a square where there are rounds, where there are owls and goats, where the wind is playful. Pippa runs through the pages of this step, swings, plays a flute, and is accompanied by Mr. Wilson. There's also a tower full of laughter, little suns, dolls, cars, swords, hats, masks—a whole tower of dreams. On one corner of the step is the meeting corner, where Snow White, Mama Bear, Pinocchio, Little Red Riding Hood, Aladdin, Pelusín, and other characters meet.
On the second step, the author has dedicated it to his family, to passages from his life. That is why he begins with a perfect verse entitled Eliana, and draws, with octosyllabic verses, the perfect image of a girl sitting on a stool, dreaming of being on an airplane.
Let's Travel with Eliana, the name of the second décima, is a magical adventure of a little girl playing pirate, who, like other children, creates scenes from her game with household items, the dream she's having at that moment.
The little girl builds a sailboat with the oilcloth and dining room tables, and like every pirate, she has a sword. The little girl straps a machete to her waist. Her father doesn't let the scene pass him by and captures it in a book, a book that is now a subject of study.
Cabalgata is a gloss on a verse by the great Indian Naborí, the rose of his smile, and father and little girl have already joined in this happy game. The first two verses are moving when he says, "I ride with Eliana/ on her wind horse." And off they go, father and daughter, surrendered to a little girl's fantasy, running across the savannah, playing in the breeze, and enjoying their daughter's caresses.
Eliana, it seems, has had many dreams since she was a child, and she still didn't know how any child would choose a profession. So, in this adventure, the girl had become a soldier and is planning an ambush. This isn't just any ambush, it's an assault of love for her parents. This beautiful décima also ends with a verse by the Indian Naborí about a flying horse.
The second step continues with Eliana's mischief, on the beach, playing in the sand, and ending with the jingling of bells. Like a faithful soldier, she is part of the band of baton makers on the avenue. Everyone waits to see her pass by, smiling and happy. As the author says in these verses, Eliana with her baton/ comes defying the sky/ the air beats her hair/ like a tiny princess. With such tenderness were written these décimas of the second installment, an incomparable love.
The third and final step is dedicated to that unique and unpredictable character created by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, The Little Prince. Antonio Gutiérrez reflects his little prince, The Little Prince, in these verses.

Hola amigos, un abrazo grande desde las páginas de un libro.
Yo sigo proponiendo los premios Principito. Es que la literatura para niños es mágica. No se diga más y vamos a conocer el libro de hoy.
Premio poesía, 2004. Antonio Gutiérrez Rodríguez. Para subir a los sueños es el libro con el cual el autor se alzó con este lauro en el año 2004. Un libro lleno de ternura, dividido en tres partes o como le llamara el autor, tres escalones, determinando que para subir es necesario una escalera. Y como un decimario exquisito de versos octosílabos, los niños van conociendo de las aventuras de los personajes que habitan en estas páginas.
En el primer escalón Guille juega con un mono, con una jirafa, un guacamayo, dos ruiseñores, Guille anda de paseo por el zoológico. entre rima consonante un telar teje los hilos y teje el peluche de un oso. Pippa Mediaslargas ahora es piloto de un OVNI y se mudó de historia, ya no habita en los cuentos, ahora es feliz en una décima tunera.
Los niños juegan a las rondas en una plaza donde hay rondas donde hay lechuzas y cabras, donde el viento es juguetón. Pippa recorre las páginas de este escalón, se columpia, toca una flauta, se hace acompañar del señor Wilson. También se encuentra una torre llena de risas, soles pequeños, muñecas, carros, espadas, gorros máscaras, toda una torre de sueños. En una esquina del escalón, es la esquina de los encuentros, donde se dan cita Blancanieves, Mamá Osa, Pinocho, Caperucita, Aladino, Pelusín y otros personajes más.
En el segundo escalón el autor lo ha dedicado a la familia, a pasajes de su vida y es por ello que comienza con una espinela perfecta bajo el título Eliana, y dibuja con versos octosílabos la perfecta imagen de una niña sentada en un taburete y soñando que va en un avión.
Vamos de viaje con Eliana, así se nombra la segunda décima y es una mágica aventura de la niña que juega a ser pirata, y que como los demás niños crean con las cosas de la casa las escenas de su juego, el sueño que tienen en ese momento.
La niña construye un barco de velas con los hules y las mesas del comedor y como todo pirata tiene una espada, la niña se ata un machete a la cintura. El padre no deja pasar la escena y la plasma en un libro, en este libro que ahora es motivo de estudio.
Cabalgata es una glosa de un verso del gran Indio Naborí, la rosa de su sonrisa, y padre y niña ya se han unido en este juego feliz, emocionan los dos primeros versos cuando dice Yo cabalgo con Eliana/ en su caballo de viento. Y allá se van padre e hija entregados a la fantasía de una niña, corriendo a través de la sabana, jugando con la brisa y disfrutando de las caricias de la hija.
Eliana, al parecer tiene muchos sueños desde que era niña, y aun no sabía cómo cualquier niño escoger una profesión, así que, en esta aventura, la niña se había convertido en militar y tiene planeada una Emboscada, que no es cualquier emboscada, es un asalto de amor hacia los padres, esta décima preciosa también termina con un verso del Indio Naborí de un caballo volador.
Continúa el segundo escalón con las travesuras de Eliana, en la playa, jugando con la arena y termina sonando cascabeles y como soldado fiel, ella en una banda es parte de las batuteras en la avenida, todos esperan por verla pasar, sonriente y feliz y como bien dice el autor en estos versos Eliana con su batuta/ viene desafiando el cielo/ el aire bate su pelo/ de princesa diminuta. Con cuanta ternura se escribieron estas décimas de la segunda entrega, un amor incomparable.
El tercer y último escalón está dedicado a ese personaje único e impredecible que creara Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, El Principito. Antonio Gutiérrez refleja en estas décimas a su principito, El Principito.
Antonio Gutiérrez refleja en estas décimas a su principito, al principito que sus versos describen, un personaje musical, con una historia de otro mundo, del mundo interior al que la lectura llega, porque cada lector tiene su propia lectura, y que nunca va a ser la misma cada vez que lo lea.
Este principito va regando luz y aroma antes de iniciar el vuelo. En este escalón, el autor le regala una oveja al principito, pero una oveja de algodón para que no muera de vieja. En el planeta del principito no existen guerras, pero además el fuego se convierte en flor. Un libro del tiempo donde aún había ternura literaria y no era solo para los lectores infantiles.
De esta manera me despido de ustedes hasta otro libro escrito para los niños.
