Hello, dear friends.
Today I got lost in the pages of a unique book. It may be the book with the most authors in the world, and if not in the world, at least in Cuba.
The book I'm talking about is called From Surrealism to the Exquisite Décima. And as its name suggests, it's a book of décimas. But they aren't just any décimas; they're mostly composed by ten poets.
Let me tell you, in my city there's a cultural institution called Casa Iberoamericana de la Décima. Every fourth Wednesday of the month, an activity is held there, the Café ConVerso, and the main section is the exquisite décima.
The exquisite décima was the idea of @argelfernadez, based on the precedent of the exquisite corpse. Ten numbers are made and distributed among ten poets, each corresponding to their corresponding verse.
But the décima has its own techniques. It consists of ten octosyllabic verses, where the first rhymes with the fourth and fifth, the second with the third, the sixth with the seventh, and the tenth and eighth with the ninth.
After several years of work, they decided to make a book with a selection of the 100 best décimas to date, and this book was published. There should have been 1,000 authors because there are 100 décimas, but many authors are repeated, especially those of us who were always involved in the activity.
Although in the end it has 101 décimas, the book's compiler included a décima written entirely by Renael González, a writer we already discussed in a previous post.

Although there are those who cannot rise
to the height of their lutes
and would like to bury it in ancient coffins,
with it, the voice of the people,
I prefer the crowds.
I'll tell you that not only poets participated, this book contains verses by people not recognized as poets, such as Eslinda Núñez, a renowned Cuban actress who, luckily, was in my city that night at a film festival.
In this book, each décima is dedicated to a different theme: goodbye, friendship, José Martí, love, rain, life, time, cinema, the institution's anniversaries, the end of the year, etc.
There are themes that are repeated according to the month of the activity. There were nights when there wasn't just one décima, there were up to three. There were also months when there weren't ten poets, and when one of the other poets didn't dare, a poet would write two verses, and if necessary, three. The point is that the tenth verse had to be finished.
There are also verses by well-known poets such as Pablo Armando Fernández, Carlos Esquivel, Cesar López, Waldo González, Pedro Péglez, Antonio Borrego, David Mitrani, Frank Upierre, Jesús David Curbelo, among many others.
The truth is that this book is one of the most authored; its tenth verses are full of sensitivity. When I read each one, I remember the night it was written, because I was always distributing the issues to the poets.
This is why I dare to say that From Surrealism to the Exquisite Décima is a book filled with much love and poetry. You, who read this, will be able to read some of the décimas I include in the images.
And I only wish that we may meet again in the pages of a book.

Hoy me perdí en las páginas de un libro único. Es posible que sea el libro con más autores del mundo y si no es del mundo, por lo menos de Cuba.
El libro del que les hablo se llama Del surrealismo a la décima exquisita. Y como su nombre lo indica, es un libro de décimas. pero no son decimas cualquieras, son décimas en su mayoría compuestas por diez poetas.
Ya les cuento, en mi ciudad existe una institución cultural que se llama Casa Iberoamericana de la Décima, en ella cada cuarto miércoles del mes se realiza una actividad, el Café ConVerso y la sección principal es la décima exquisita.
La décima exquisita fue idea de @argelfernadez, con el antecedente del cadáver exquisito. Se hacen diez números y se reparten a diez poetas, según el número es el verso que le corresponde hacer.
Pero la décima tiene sus técnicas. Son diez versos octosílabos, donde el primero rima con el cuarto y el quinto, el segundo con el tercero, el sexto con séptimo y décimo y octavo con noveno.
Tras varios años de realizarse decidieron hacer un libro con una selección de las 100 mejores décimas hasta el momento y salió este libro. Deberían ser 1000 autores porque son 100 décimas, pero muchos autores se repiten, sobre todo los que siempre estábamos en la actividad.
Aunque al final tiene 101 décimas pues el compilador del libro adjuntó una décima hecha en su totalidad por Renael González, escritor de quien ya hablamos en algún post anterior.
De tu décima disponte
a hacer un arma sonora
y a la opinión agresora
con sus diez balas oponte.
Aunque haya quien no remonte
la altura de sus laúdes
y en arcaicos ataúdes
la quisieran enterrar,
con ella, voz popular,
prefiero las multitudes.
Les cuento, que n solo participaban los poetas, en este libro están los versos de personas no reconocidas como poetas, como es el caso de Eslinda Núñez, reconocida actriz cubana y que por suerte esa noche estaba en mi ciudad en un festival de cine.
En este libro cada décima está dedicada a un tema diferente, al adiós, la amistad, al José Martí, al amor, la lluvia, la vida, el tiempo, el cine, los aniversarios de la institución, el fin de año, etc…
Hay temas que se repiten de acuerdo al mes de la actividad, había noches que no solo se hacía una décima, se hacían hasta tres. Hubo meses también donde no había diez poetas y cuando no se atrevía una de las otras personas, pues un poeta hacía dos versos, y si era necesario hacía tres. El asunto es que la decima había que terminarla.
También hay versos de poetas conocidos como Pablo Armando Fernández, Carlos Esquivel, Cesar López, Waldo González, Pedro Péglez, Antonio Borrego, David Mitrani, Frank Upierre, Jesús David Curbelo entre muchos más.
Lo cierto es que este libro es uno de los libros con más autores, sus decimas están llenas de sensibilidad. Cuando voy leyendo cada una de ella, voy recordando la noche en que se hizo, porque yo siempre estaba repartiendo los números a los poetas.
Por esto me atrevo a asegurar que Del surrealismo a la décima exquisita y un libro con mucho amor y lleno de poesía. Usted que me lee, podrá leer algunas décimas que pongo en las imágenes.
