It was a rainy day again that lasted right at noon until evening. My boy was restless all day long and since I just arrived home around 8 PM, we didn't have much option to go out and play. So I took him to do things that can ease his boredom as well as help me to get things done, to the grocery!
Geetings Hive world! It's me again, Iris! Let's join our little adventure today despite the uncooperative weather.
To spice up things, I didn't bring him to our regular grocery store, but to visit the big distributor market where you can buy everything in bulks. It called Indogrosir, and even though it was a distributor market, you can still buy things in small number, but with much cheaper price than the ordinary convention, supermarket or store of grocery stores.
The place was not fancy, only like a large warehouse with rows of products. I didn't shop here very often because usually it was very crowded with people buying for their small stores or just getting monthly haul, thus make the queue for cashier very long. But this place is so close, only about 5 minutes drive and it was also near his bed time, I just 'que sera sera' my plan and went for it.
He was amazed by the sight of the building and began throwing questions. There were a lot of busy scenes already on the entrance, such as people hauling their piles of groceries to their vehicles, queueing to pack in the boxing area (yes, you had to pack your own shopping spree result), and also the stall vendors promoting their goods.
Once we enter the place, he was so surprised by the tall rows of products, boxes and sacks. This place was quite organized but yeah there are the beauty of bustling marketplace that bring the shopping vibe and pump the adrenaline - IYKWIM 😏 I always had to restrain myslef not to buy things that I didn't need just because it was there and cheap.
I already taught my boy how to behave in crowded public places but it still hit and miss, thus I just put him inside the shopping cart. This is allowed here because it has big, sturdy, and often quite bit stubborn shopping carts to accommodate people who buys in bulk. He was really enjoy the ride and shouting the things that he recognized as usual. I didn't plan to do monthly grocery so there were no lists to buy, so I just bring him to buy his needs and hopefully tried to teach him about numbers as well.
He was so excited to be able to pick things from shelves and put it in the cart. Surprisingly he stacked them very neatly. I let him decided the number of things he wanted to buy and let him familiarize in making decisions. I alo used this chance to introduce new things to him as well. We were lucky that we saw a forklift in action - a part of the vehicle family that he likes a lot. So we stopped to watch it in action.
Next, I took him to the fresh produce area. He already familiar with fruits and vegetables so he was excited to told me everything that he knew. We bought fruits, yogurt there and also his favorite french fries. You can buy things like fries, meatballs, sausages, and things like that in KGs without the brand name and they are much more cheaper than the packed one. Taste not too bad as well. However I only buy fries, because I tried to have him eat healthy as much as possible.
Time to pay, this place had row of cashiers and if you went in the morning or when it's payday you will still have to queue despite that. Lucky it was pretty late at night, so we didn't have to wait for long. I asked my boy to assist the cashier and handed her our shopping haul. Another tip to make toddlers occupied, give him mission not just task, so they can feel so important.
I was glad that we spend some times there so we just in time for his bed time. I got to buy things that I need as well so it's a big win for me, yey! Another simple moment that bring happiness and memories. Thank you for stopping by and reading our impromptu haul. See you around, Hivers!
