If I ran one I'd have to create some mechanics that would accommodate some asynchronous play - and expedite combat without making it entirely predictable.

I'm looking at the Pathfinder Rule Set now with just the core rules, and making some notes. It very similar to D&D 3.5
So many words my infantile DND experience understands… is DnD 3.5 a iPad/tablet enhanced version of the game I played in the 90’s?
