Hello there Friends, Happy Monday and new Month, along with the 2nd half of the year! And thank you for your visit!
This is my fifth post in the #cyclingcommunity and I decided to do something in the way of "catch-up".
So to start, this is a milage/kilometer report for the first half of 2024, actually I was waiting to do this!
(Of course keeping in mind I did not have the Green bike up and running till April 17th).
So on June 30th,
The "X-TTEME" has 369.2 miles/594.169 kilometers
so far this year,
The "GENESIS" has 76.740 miles/123.501 kilometers this year (Green bike)
Total 445.94 miles / 717.67 kilometers
(first 6 months 2024)
All has gone well, for the most part!
Goal - as close to 1000 miles/1622 kilometers as possible this year.
My old goal for the year has been passed. In January I wanted to do 366 miles/ kilometers to get in a mile a day for the year. I believe that was too conservative.
Issues..
Pedals on Black bike!
OK, they have/had more than 4500 miles when they died. The bearings are done. They creek badly, and just do not work "right" due to the slack. Actually bearings fell out when I took them off.
But still, a pretty good quality Pedal.
I especially liked the "cantilever design" - it works and they are pretty grippy in shoes.
Now that being said...
I replaced them with a set of pretty normal black nylon MTB pedals. I am impressed! They weigh about half, grip shoes well, and spin good.
But they do not have the look of the "MPEDA's", and of course only about 25% of the cost. Well, I will see how they hold up and see in a month or two what I think.
The guy at the Bike Shop Dave, who I talked to gave me some Wisdom...
You should see Pedals like Windshield Wipers. They are consumables, and will wear out - keep that in mind when replacing them.
And that was it for today,
"Keep On Pedalin'"!
