Spiderman should exist in real world
Ever since I was a little kid mesmerized by superhero movies, I've wondered what it would be like if those larger-than-life characters actually existed in the real world. Imagining all the possibilities if someone like Spiderman or the Avengers battled bad guys down the street from my house always fascinated me. Of course, they were just fictional creations—or were they?
Like so many fans, I desperately wanted these super-powered heroes to be more than just images on a screen or ink on a comic page. My young mind half-believed that maybe, just maybe, they were real out there somewhere. If only I could meet them in person!
I daydreamed endlessly about what I would ask a real-life Spiderman or having Black Panther actually show up to save my neighborhood. My friends and I would devise elaborate scenarios pretending to see these heroes in action right before our eyes. Our imaginations ran wild.
Sadly, time and reality eventually set in revealing that Spiderman would not in fact be swinging down the street as I walked to school. As amazing as it would be to see a genuine Super Soldier serum-enhanced Captain America in the flesh, I accepted it simply wasn't meant to be. They would remain fictional icons, not flesh-and-blood people.
Of course, today's epic movie magic and CGI can bring our favorite heroes to life so vividly on screen that you occasionally forget they aren't real. Seeing the Avengers team up ignites that childhood awe for a couple hours before the credits hit.
But once the lights come on, we're still left yearning for just a glimpse of these spectacular heroes in the actual world. Is it too much to ask for just one real superpower display outside a green screen? Probably so.
Yet that doesn't stop us from indulging in that innocent hope from time to time. The child inside still wants to believe the impossible can happen. Maybe somewhere out there are true wonders we just haven't witnessed yet.
Our obsession speaks to that common longing for something more than the mundane day-to-day. Would life feel more purposeful if the stakes were raised and heroes stood ready? It's hard to say. But isn't it nice to imagine?
In the end, seeing our icons leap from pages and screens into reality remains unlikely. But dreaming big never hurts. That's why we love these stories so much - they transport us, however briefly, to an extraordinary world where miracles can happen.
