Everyone on Earth wants to be happy. Steps and actions taken daily, cumulate to finding happiness. From the food one chooses to eat, to the clothes to wear, the job one decides to go to or the careeer path one has chosen to walk. All these are in hopes of getting happiness.
Contrary to what others may think, happiness is more than a feeling, it's a state of mind, rooted in self love and satisfaction. I confidently say it's more than just a feeling because feelings are fickle and temporary. One minute you think you are happy because of a particular circumstance but the next minute, when there is a change in that same circumstance, you become sad. Some persons tie their happiness to gifts, their kids or thier spouse. Some place thier happiness on their respective material possessions, no wonder they go beserk when those materials get damaged or destroyed.
The real source of happiness lies within every individual, you just have to look for the source and draw your happiness from there.
You also make being happy a choice that you need to consciously fight for. Look around you, the world is in a turmoil, no one cares about anybody and instead selfishness prevails. The rich are unhappy and they think that amassing more wealth will keep them happy but this is a falacy rather happiness can be drawn from the simple things of life.
Happiness is not a destination rather it is a journey, one that involves regular soul searching to be able to understand your priorities.
Your happiness lies with you. You choose to be happy or be unhappy no matter what comes your way, knowing well that every phase in life will pass. No phase lasts forever.
Money or should I say having endless riches does not guarantee happiness neither is happiness sexually transmitted although it is contagious and communicable. It is in you to discover as you journey on in life.
I have heard so many say that when they are able to purchase so so and so or when they have a wife, husband, kids, high paying job, luxury mansion a cruise boat, private jet and more, that they would be happy but this is not so.
In economics, it is taught that human want is unlimited. This is so true just take this illustration for example..
A young woman in her late thirties hoped to be married and after much praying and believing, she finally got married. Two years into the marriage, she began to lament over not being able to conceive. This led to a series of sleepless nights, tears, nagging, complaints and vigils. She said one day to God, if I can have just one child, I will be happy. Her prayer was answered and she gave birth to a baby girl. Two years later she began to ask God for another baby, a baby boy to be precise, stating that she needs a male child to buttress her stay in her marital home. The cycle continued, with her being unhappy, even though she had earlier said that having just a child would make her happy.
This is the irony of life and that's why one needs to look inward to understand what makes them happy. Plus choosing to be happy despite the exterior factors of life is ideal and it speaks volumes of a courageous heart.
