Organized Chaos | LMAC FreeStyle Collage No. 156

LMAC-FreeStyle-No156-OrganizedChaos.jpg

Hello LMAC and Hive members. I wanted to share with you my current freestyle collage. My theme entails a well-known theory called "organized chaos". My style of collage is a Freestyle. Although I usually do, I wasn't required to utilize any contest photo in my design. However, if you'd like to join in a freestyle project or regular contest, just visit: Let's Make a Collage - A Contest for All Creatives on Hive - Round 247 - ✨41 HIVE in the Prize Pool!..

What can I say about my design? Because sometimes organized chaos works. You may think that being perfectly organized in all situations is a good thing. Organization. Order. Peace of mind. You control the situation entirely.

However, there is a theory and popular saying that "there's a method to this madness." And it's entirely true. And it works. For some individuals.

Organized Chaos is defined as a situation that appears disordered and chaotic on the surface but actually has an underlying order or structure. It often describes systems, environments, or processes where there is a high level of activity, complexity, or apparent randomness, yet everything functions effectively and efficiently due to hidden rules, patterns, or organization.1

Examples of organized chaos can be seen in the following scenarios:

  • A busy kitchen in a restaurant. During their peak hours, the kitchen may seem hectic and chaotic, but each person has a specific role and tasks to perform, thereby resulting in an amazing final product that is delivered to the dining area; or,

  • An artist’s studio. It may look cluttered with supplies, sketches, and unfinished projects strewn about, but the artist knows exactly where everything is. Sometimes, seeing more than one option bursts forth creative ideas that wouldn't have occurred. 1

Often I've felt as though I operate under the organized chaos rules. Take my home office for example, I have a file cabinet, but files as taken out and scattered about so that I can easily place things in them or find items I'm working on and need to refer to.

Several years ago I began a minimalist approach to my lifestyle. It has helped me see the clutter I was causing by not being organized. Over the last few years, I've made significant progress. However, I look around my office and home, and it feels "too" neat and tidy.

When I need items immediately, I'm constantly searching because I don't remember where I placed them. As they say, there was a method to my madness. But I must confess, going through and continuing the minimalist approach has brought me a level of peace in my uncluttered environment.

I actually didn't realize that organized chaos has several benefits. According to Penn Foster in its article, states that:

Adaptability
Being able to adapt to changing circumstances is important in any job. However, some job positions require an individual to be extremely flexible in its internal organized chaos. Adapting quickly is the key. Also, the ability to multitask is a tremendous asset to the company.

I remember in my early workplace, I became proficient at multitasking. So much so that I didn't recognize the stress it caused that led to High Blood Pressure.

Collaboration
Teamwork. Companies that require this automatically eliminate employees who like to work behind the scenes. Some prefer to work along than be accountable to other co-workers. Organized chaos comes into play when several moving parts of one project aren't under one person's control.

Innovation
A certain amount of pressure is inherent with organized chaos. Many people find that they do their best work under pressure and tasks that are non-routine. When working in organized chaos, there’s more opportunity to be creative and uniquely problem solve. But those type careers are not for everyone. 1

The organized chaos theory isn't just for business. The system can be applied to learning and personal environments as well.

However, as the article points out, like most things, organized chaos is not right for everyone. Some people really need structure and routine in order to thrive at work or in school. Everyone has a different work ethic and approach, and there’s no right way to get your work done as long as it’s getting done.

In preparing my theme, decided to use parts from two different female bodies to show chaos. Just like in a chaotic situation, around the disjointed female are items that wouldn't necessarily belong, except perhaps the feline. Her face tells the story as they say, "one's head isn't on right."

Instead of a harsh tone, I wanted a softer touch to show that all chaos may not ruin one's life. My pure fractal that resembles a circle shows the inner trappings that may be circling around the female causing havoc. Other pure fractals add to the clutter. All were designed in the advanced fractal rendering program, Apophysis 7X. For my abstract drawings, I designed them in the simple drawing program, Bomomo.

I then utilized Canva to blend the different type images. Below are my steps in which I began with a blank, white canvas, then added layers of elements, removing backgrounds, resizing, detaching elements from their backgrounds, duplicating, colorizing, and repositioning items as needed incorporating the tools at my disposal in my Annual Pro Membership Subscription.

Hello dear @justclickindiva,

I couldn't take time to read and analyze your work last night. These last few days I'm rationing my efforts at the computer. I'm battling a viral attack and besides the general malaise, my left hand is affected. But I'm here now after a good rest.

When I look at your collage I see my brain :) That's how my brain operates. All the ideas float freely and somehow coalesce around an idea. It is organized chaos, and it is the perfect environment for lateral thinking. It's interesting that you use a female body, because females are more more inclined toward lateral thinking than males. All of that chaos comes together better in our heads because we have greater neural connectivity.

However, though I use lateral thinking in much of my life, cold logic is also beautiful to me. It's almost like your description of your office. You find the organized chaos conducive to one kind of productivity, and an ordered office conducive to another kind of productivity.

My mind works beautifully in the cold abstract logic of geometry. Makes no sense, really, because I'm so disordered. And yet, of all the subjects I took in school, geometry was the one subject I knew intuitively.

As usual, your collage and your blog are richly rewarding. Thank you.

On behalf of LMAC I'm gifting you 2 HSBI tokens. Just the smallest appreciation of your art and your loyalty to our community.

Be well.

Regards, AG

Thank you very much, @friendlymoose and @commentrewarder

I'm with on lateral thinking. I'm 50/50 though having worked in a stressful legal career for over 35 years, I desperately needed step-by-step logic. It served me well with my multi-tasking.

On the other hand, when away from the job, I let go and delve deep within my darker, creative side. Perhaps as a mechanic for stress relief and the stressors attacking me from all angles during my life. That's when I plunge into the creative state and let go.

You are too kind to even stop by given your busy schedule and view my collage. Your insight is always useful as points of reference and an alternate way of looking at the intricacies of one's lifestyle.

Thanks so much for the HSBI gifts. I appreciate them and your support as well as the community's support. Take care and have a nice start to your weekend.
