I was in a big pot of soup sometime ago. I got myself in trouble after I invested in a Ponzi scheme with my school fees. I have always loved money and that’s why I was quick to make money through the online world. I had so many friends who we always search different websites to know if we can work on them and get paid. Suddenly, we found a website and I invested in it but something happened before I invested money into it.
A friend called me and asked if I could lend her some money. Who’s that friend? Her name is Pelumi. She’s one of the good friends I made when I was in high school and we are still very cool. Pelumi needed the money urgently and that’s why she called me since she can always confide in me. She had the money but her bank account was having issues and she needed to go to the bank. She only asked me for the transport fare to the bank and I lied I didn’t have. That’s not because I am not loyal but because I wanted to invest in the website I just found out about.
The website had different plans but I went for the weekly plan which was supposed to double my money after a week and I can withdraw once the plan or my subscription ends.
I was already hoping to get my money on the withdrawal date but I got a bad news that it was a scam website. My friend called me that afternoon to break the news to me while she was crying and her voice was shaking on the phone.
She cried on the phone and said;
Hello Bisola, do you remember that platform we invested in last week?
I answered and said yes.
Do you know that it’s a scam site?
I didn’t even say a word and hung up the call. My heart began to beat very fast because I knew I was in trouble.
I checked the website immediately and I could not gain access to it anymore.
I began to wail in my room and thinking of who I could call for help.

I knew I could not call my parents because the only thing they asked me to do with the money was pay my school fees. I then called Pelumi that I have always confided in. When I explained what happened, I was shocked by her response. She said;
My dad already gave me my school fees and the only thing we can do is split my school fees into two so you can at least write the first semester examination and after then, you can source for the money
My palpitating heart got a relief after my friend told me those words. I knew the problem wasn’t solved yet but I still had a chance of writing the first semester award.
I shouted; argghhhhh. Thank you so much girl. I’m grateful. You will not die. You will have money. You will forever be happy in your entire life.
That was how I began to pray for my friend because she just saved me from a big mess.
It would have been worse if I could not pay the school fees because I was in my final year at the university and if I’m unable to pay the school fees, I will have to repeat that year which will result in me paying an extra school fee.
When I eventually got the money and wanted to give back the money I borrowed from Pelumi, she asked me not to worry because she sorted her school fees already.
I’m always emotional and I didn’t know when tears rolled down my eye. I’m a very proud person who never wants to kneel down for someone but I knelt down for my friend that day and said thank you.

I didn’t support my friend when she needed me because I needed to invest but despite the fact that I didn’t help her with the money she needed, she still saved me from the mess I got myself in. That’s not just it. She has done so many things I don’t think I can ever forget in my life and I have always made sure that I return her kindness ever since she helped me pay my school fees. Truly, Pelumi has stuck with me through think and thin.
If I’m ever counting my friends, she will always be the first in the list.
