Chioma’s Wedding Party.

in The Ink Well2 months ago

Chioma is getting married to Zuby and she is so happy about her wedding ceremony which will happen in a few days. Just because of the wedding ceremony, a lot of her friends have arrived from America, Canada, England and other countries. Her dress is ready, the event planner already got everything ready and even down to the food everyone will eat on that day.
If all of those things are set, it means the wedding will be an interesting one. A day to the wedding ceremony, Chioma wore her wedding gown again and the fit was perfect on her. Happiness was flowing all over in Chioma’s house because of the wedding that was about to happen.
The young lady didn’t even sleep that night to her wedding because she can’t wait for tomorrow.

On her wedding day, Chioma was welcomed into the hall but she sighted something that got her angry and left the venue. She sighted her boyfriend’s ex. She was so annoyed and never liked the fact that the young lady was present at her wedding party.
When Chioma ran out of the venue, Zuby and some of their friends ran after her so they can catch up with her.

Babe, what’s wrong? Zuby said to Chioma.

Are you really asking me what’s wrong? You ex came to our wedding ceremony and you’re acting like it’s no big deal,” Chioma said.

I wasn’t even expecting her at our wedding party. You know if I was, I would have told you, Zuby said so looking so innocent and felt bad that Chioma embarrased in presence of everyone.

Despite how bad Zuby felt, he begged his wife and they got back into the event hall. Everyone was surprised to see them again in the hall and the wedding ceremony continued.
In Africa, the parents of the groom and bride sit together and also take pictures both bride and groom.
When the master of ceremony asked them to come take pictures, another argument started.

Chioma’s dad and mum are no longer married to each other but her dad brought his new wife to the party. When they were asked to take pictures, the new wife wants to be the one to take family picture with the groom and bride.
Where is that done? Chioma’s mum asked the new wife but the woman insisted that she takes family pictures with the groom and bride.
This argument lasted fifteen minutes while the two women were yelling at each other fighting to be the one to take the family pictures with the new couples.
To settle the case, the both of them were asked to take the family pictures one after the other but they still fought over who takes the picture first.

At the last lineup of the event, it is usually asked in wedding parties if there is anyone present and does not want the union to hold.
The pastero said to them, is there anyone here who does not want this union to happen, please raise your hands.
No one dares to raise their hands up at a wedding ceremony even though that question is being asked.
This time, the pastor or master of ceremony were not ready to settle any issues amicably.
They called three bouncers to bounce the person out of the ceremony and didn’t even bother to ask the person why.

After that last question, the dancehall was open for everyone to dance with the couples but a crazy drama still happened. While dancing, Chioma’s mother and step mothet were trying to push themselves so they can be closer to the new couples.
It was obvious that Zuby and Chioma didn’t like the drama that happened on that day. The smile became fake and the happiness in their eyes faded. While at the venue, everyone knew that all the couples wanted was for the event to end so they can quarrel over that issue because that is surely what will happen.

Chioma and Zuby’s wedding ceremony didn’t go smoothly at all nor as they planned. The wedding ceremony went higgledy-piggledy.
The latest couples went home feeling bad about the whole thing and Chioma begged her hubby for the attitude she portrayed at the venue earlier. She also apologized for the drama her parents caused because it looked like her family was the one who ruined the fun that they all were supposed to have.

Even though the wedding went higgledy-piggledy, Chioma and Zuby had a very interesting honeymoon and still lived a beautiful life afterwards.

Hmmm! I would have just locked up my step mother if she wouldn't let my mum have it at my wedding 😜

And the ex, she came to see the kind of woman Zuby is marrying, lol

This means that so many unserious people went to the wedding party😅😅😅
But the mother and step mum arguing there makes no sense

😂😂 this is the reason why my sister said she will hand pick her guest and make ready hefty bouncers just in case anyone tries misbehaving at her wedding.

This is a nicely imagined story and an appropriate response to the prompt, @abojode. We enjoyed reading this.

We would like to call your attention to one sentence in the story that is a bit out of place (we do this to help you as you write stories in the future).

In Africa, the parents of the groom and bride sit together and also take pictures both bride and groom

This bit of cultural information is offered as straight exposition and does not fit into the story. A story should maintain the illusion of fiction throughout the piece.

However, the scene as you describe it is quite entertaining and works well otherwise.

We remind you, also to comment on two stories for each one you publish.

Thank you!
