Weekend-Engagement WEEK #257: Habits that transform your body and mind

Why do we value our health only when we get sick? And it is at that precise moment when we think: Why didn't I take better care of myself? Why didn't I pay attention to my body's signals? Why did I neglect myself so much?

Each action, each small healthy habit is the sum to achieve a full and happy life. Our physical and mental well-being is the most valuable investment we have, let's take care of ourselves so we can take care of others.

And that's what my choice of theme for the weekend is all about:

If you had to give three physical health tips and three behavioral tips for a better life, what would they be and why?

Physical health:

1. Drink enough water💦: water is the main component of our body, it represents about 50% to 60% of the total body weight, is it a lot right? By drinking at least 2 liters of water a day we help the proper functioning of our kidneys, we avoid headaches, we improve the quality of our skin, we keep our intestinal motility optimal preventing constipation.

2. Opt for healthy food🍔: We are what we eat, leaving aside processed food such as hamburgers, pizza, hot dogs and sodas with high sugar content will significantly improve our body. Changing all this for vegetables, proteins, healthy fats is a step towards a healthy life.

3. Do medical check-ups on time 💆: In my medical practice I have seen many patients who have had a pathology for years without going to a health center, either out of fear or ignorance of the seriousness of these symptoms. From patients with high blood pressure without symptoms that end in stroke or acute myocardial infarction, to that rare mole that grows over the months and is not evaluated out of fear.

Regarding behaviors for a better life:

1. Be empathetic and treat as you would like to be treated: In a world full of selfishness, be the difference. Kindness opens doors and it is not about expecting something in return, I am a true believer that what you sow you reap.

2. Learn to manage stress: Health and stress go hand in hand, the simple fact of not having the tools to handle stressful situations leaves us exposed to multiple health problems, which may not be seen at the moment but will be reflected in the medium term.

3. Never stop growing: and no, it is not about stature, but to keep yourself in constant learning and growth. Don't be satisfied with where you are if you are sure you deserve something better, keep moving forward. It doesn't matter if you are not good at a million things, just be the best at one, don't limit yourself and surround yourself with people who motivate you to keep moving forward.

I also repeat these tips to myself every morning, this way I do introspection and I can improve every day. What other advice would you give for a full life? Thanks for being here, have a nice Saturday. 🤗🍃

It's really easy for people to opt for foods that are unhealthy, fast food, high in sugar and salt and such things. People tend not to cook as much, in my country anyway, and ready-made food is their preference. I think it's one of the biggest factors to the rising issues around poor health.

A really nice post here, well presented.

That's right, you're right... But with planning it is possible to have a healthy diet, avoiding overweight, which is only the tip of the iceberg.

Thank you very much for reading, I hope you have a great day.

Hi @yoselyncampos, it is important to have a medical checkup to take care of your health, the body sends signals that sometimes are ignored and when you go to the doctor it is late, eating healthy food and drinking enough water are also very important to maintain good health.

Happy Monday!
