When I took all the bottles of perfume that I currently use from my closet to the shelf, and for the purpose of writing a post in #weekendengagement, I realized that they actually represent an interesting collection.
OK, the collection will be published in another community, here now my focus will remain on the topic given by galenkp:
What's your current favorite scent (perfume or cologne)? You can answer with what you love about yourself, or about others, male or female. Explain why you like and wear it.
Each of these perfumes has its own story.
When and how did I buy them, did I get them as a gift or did I pay for them...
But still one of them stands out.
It's the one in the black bottle, which I have in the new packaging even though the old one is only half used up.
Armaf Club de nut Intensive men, in a bottle of 105 ml.
I like it so much that I immediately bought it as a spare, because I know what kind of adventure I went through if I found it.
A few years ago, in 2021, my partner was coming home from work.
She told me: "Oh, you know what kind of perfume I smelled on a client, beautiful."
She sent him a message, and he only replied Armaf, the black bottle.
Somehow she found out that it was bought in Abu Dhabi.
Well... The corona virus epidemic has just passed and the borders are slowly opening...
Where and how can I buy it...
But I haven't forgotten this parfume.
Whenever I crossed the borders of the surrounding countries, I asked in the duty free shops at the airports or in the perfumeries in the cities where I happened to be.
And so for a year.
2022 in a market (it is a chain of stores) in my neighborhood, I saw a bottle from the Internet on a shelf where perfumes are displayed.
I couldn't believe my eyes.
I didn't buy it right away.
When I sprayed it on my skin, it felt too strong for my taste.
I went home, my partner recognized him, but it seemed too strong to her.
I decided to buy it when I could still smell it on my skin after showering in the evening before going to bed.
I went to work and blew it a few times.
Ugh, really strong smell.
At one point, a colleague approaches me and says: "Well, you smell like this. I've been walking all day trought open space and trying to figure out who smells this good 🙂 What perfume is this, it looks a lot like Creed to me. Is it did you really buy such an expensive perfume?"
"This is not Creed, this is Armaf. I have never smelled Creed. Does it really smell the same?".
At that moment, a colleague who is a perfume maniac approaches us 🙂
That colleague spends hundreds of € per year on perfumes, so he is considered a expert.
He smelled my forearm where I had it, and confirmed, "Yes, this is very similar to Creed Aventus.
How much does it cost? Only €65? Great price, just a question of how durable it is."
We googled the ingredients together and compared them with Creed, they are really very similar in terms of ingredients:
Club de Nuit Intense Man is a long-lasting woody, spicy fragrance for men.
Top notes are lemon, black currant, apple, bergamot and pineapple;
middle notes are rose, jasmine and birch.
The base consists of vanilla, musk, ambergris and patchouli.
I certainly won't buy this more expensive variant, but when I confirmed its persistence and smell after 12 hours after using Armaf for a few days, I bought another package.
But still, I didn't have to rush that much.
A few months after I and my colleague, who was looking for me around the floor, bought this perfume, the distribution of these oriental perfumes began in our country on a larger scale. The company Almara, which offers exclusively perfumes from oriental producers, appeared in larger shopping centers.
Known for oil-based perfumes, oriental perfumes are totally different from the more common alcohol-based perfumes (the perfumes I know so far), so every time one of my friends travels to the Apar countries, I ask them to bring me some random perfume and it's always it's an oil-based perfume, with a fragrance that stays on the skin for a long time.
And why do I like perfumes?
I love when I feel the scent of perfume on my skin, just as I love when I feel a trace of perfume when passing by on the street, in an elevator, in transport.
