Coins coins coins
So, before Christmas I received two silver coins I bought in auction and I still have to write a post about them because when they arrived, I thought the pictures surely didn't do them any good. They are absolutely stunning in real life, so I was very pleased with the deal I got. Then you know, Christmas preparation happened as well as actual Christmas and we spent the Sundays on the flea market.
On the flea market, I found another coin from my home country Holland, which I bought for sentimental reasons only. I will write about this one as well.
First something else
Although I'd normally say, let's share them according to the first in system, now I'm a bit too excited for what I discovered today. Call me stupid, sleepyhead or whatever but for some reason, I never checked our spare change when receiving coins. For some reason, I never thought that I'd possibly be handed some euro coins that could be worth something more by now. Which I truly think is stupid living at the Spanish coast where plenty of people come from other parts of Europe to spent some time in the winter sun.
The trigger for my search today
I was actually listing some items for sale today, and meanwhile browsing to compare some prizes of items. While I was doing so, I found some coins and from one thing came the other, before I knew it I was browsing through listings with coins in Spain. Djeez, this things surely is addictive!
I bumped on this listing, which honestly, I have not checked to find the actual value, what I did find was a bunch of others for sale for even higher prices, so I guess it's most definitely worth more than the 2 euro value:
When I started writing this post, I didn't have this coin but later I went for groceries and received this one as change, haha. So now I will most definitely search for more information in the next days. Meanwhile, I told my boyfriend
What about 1 euro coins?
He then said what about 1 euro coins? I said surely they will have rare ones too but I don't know, would need to look that up when we have them. He handed me like 7 euro coins to check as well as some other spare change. I first only checked the years and sorted them by country, interesting to see was that I had quite a few coins from Germany 2002 there which could be of value. I also found a few coins from 1999 and 2002 or early 2000's. Not all of them were euros btw, but I decided to not use them but sort them by value and year and go through them one by one, maybe a few every day.
From the same seller:
I fully understand that this can be highly misleading and that someone can ask crazy prices and in the end it's worth what the fool pays for it, but at least this seller has 100% satisfaction rate with 205 sales. That's not too bad, I guess.
And then I found the same coin on the local market place for 500 euros, ok 200 less than on Ebay but they seller had a screenshot of an article. I found the article after some digging, which you can see here:
Both coming from this article
I hope I have something on my hands here. What do you think? Either way, this whole thing got me super excited today, even more than wandering on the flea markets the past three times we went there.
If you have tips, good websites where I can easily rule out the "bad" ones or spot the "good" ones with trustworthy information, please let me know because today I browsed on so many sites, and bookmarked so many that I'm sure I will have to do more digging to make sure I'm reading trustworthy info. If any of the #silvergoldstackers, maybe you @goldrooster? here has a tip, I would appreciate any help.
After I decided to call it a day (I got sucked in so badly lol) I took out all my 1 oz silver coins to admire them and will write about my last 2 silver rounds next because they are just too pretty to be ignored! The spare change search will have to wait until after that one is done.
Have a good weekend!
