Over the last few month, I wrote about digital platforms, flywheel effects, and how value can be captured. This can be spread across the entire platform, enhancing the experience if each user.
With LEO, the fact that we are dealing with a digital platform means there is a basic pattern that we can follow. Network science is applicable to Leo as anything else. The key is building, over time, to establish a foundation.
There are a variety of things that can factor into the network effects. Most look simply at users but there is much more to it than adding more people. It really comes down to what is being done.
The advantage that Leo presents is the ability to leverage one of the most powerful mechanisms in technology: convergence. This is at the heart of network effects and exponential growth.
In this article we will discuss how a simple thread can take on much more meaning.
Leo Convergence Is A Data Gold Mine
A key to all this is to keep adding features.
Another topic I discussed was building even when all the features were not present. We know they will appear sooner or later. Waiting until the tools are present is going to set one back.
We also have to consider the idea of creativity. Innovation is something that can have a massive impact. While this tends to convey the message of something highly technical, it does not have to be the case.
Here we will go through a basic illustration of what I am referring to.
Threads is something that is extremely versatile. The idea of posting something that is on our mind could be effective yet probably doesn't have a ton of lasting value. However, it is good to have things for people to engage with even if it is time sensitive.
One final point to get the foundation:
- video is vital for the future of Leo. It is also one of the question ways to grow value on a digital network.
Documentary Threads
This is just an example of what can be done. However, what should be evident is the multi-layered impact of this thread.

Unfortunately, embedding the thread doesn't provide access to all features at the moment. That is why the image is post above.
So let's go through this.
We have an embedded YouTube video that is a short documentary about Google. Here is where we are adding some video to the platform.
Next, in looking at the image, we can see there is a poll tied to the video. It allows for people to vote on the video.
We now have watch and vote in the same thread.
Of course, people are free to comment on the thread the same as any other. Which brings up the next point:
The YouTube video has a transcript which was fed through a chatbot. This provided a summary which was posted beneath the video.
Ongoing Convergence
With the comments, we have a couple things taking place.
The first should be evident in looking at the links. Over the last 20 months, we spent a great deal of time building LeoGlossary. The summary was fed through LeoLinker and edited, providing internal links to other Leo content.
We suddenly have an information source. This is an idea that we are just starting to implement but there is huge potential. Imagine building a database around specific topics, especially historical information.
This doesn't end the story. We are not only incorporating things built already. The value of the summary is we know threads are being fed into LeoAI. Each one of these that is created provides a wealth of material for the machine learning engine.
Another layer to this is search. At the moment things are rather limited but we know it will be addressed over time. Again, when we put more information in there, LeoAI will have more searchable content to return queries.
Hence, we are starting to turn Leo into a reference center.
These are easy to make, require very little time, and can be a great source of information or education. It also provides more information that can eventually repurposed. To start, these thread can be rethreaded or posted elsewhere. Then, when LeoAI goes live, the information can be returned and used in other ways.
Here is one that was created during the writing of this article:

As always, it all keeps building.
