Saturday Savers Club - 2023 Goal Review and Goals for 2024

in LeoFinance11 months ago

Well we are down to the 3rd last day of 2023. I'm doing my 2023 review and goal setting for 2024 today, as I know I wont have time now until the new year otherwise.

Review of my goals from 2023

The following table presents the goals I set in 2023 (here) and the progress against them:

231229 2023 Plan Update.png

My primary goal was to grow my HIVE POWER (HP) balance to 10k. In the end I managed to get close to 11K which was pretty awesome. I only achieved that because of the low price of HIVE and hence payouts from posts were fairly high for most of the year. I'm OK with this as I'm a great believer in accumulating during a bear market.

I hit all of the other goals, except for my EDS target, which came darn close, and will likely be achieved in another 2 weeks. Overall, I have to say that I'm very happy with the progress I made.

Its quite interesting when I look back at the initial goals I set for 2023. I wouldnt set the same goals now. They are what I thought was best then, however, things have changed over the year, and I will always adapt to changes in the environment if needed. For example, when DAB and DBOND came along, I really wanted to get in on that project as I just love the synergy between the tokens, and so I did.

I believe change is a good thing, especially when you need to change to take advantage of other opportunities. I will continue to do the same and change my goals if necessary depending on the existing circumstances at the time.

Goals for 2024

My goals for 2024 will be simpler:

1. To increase my HP by 7500, to 18500 HP
2. To increase my HP delegation to @eds-vote by 1000 HP, to 3000 HP

I see HP as very important here on HIVE - plus I like the gains that can be made from delegation, curation and APR so thats why it figures heavily. Also, I like to be able to give rewarding up-votes so this will also help that side of things.

EDS is a good long term investment option, and having done some forward projections on how that project is going, I want to grow my stake in that project. Doing that via HP delegation is an option that works well for me, as it does not detract from my primary HP goal, in fact, it basically feeds from it, because if I can achieve a growth of 7500 HP in the year, it will be easy for me to delegate 1000 HP from the growth to @eds-vote - representing around 13% of that growth.

Plan for 2024

The 7500 HP increase is largely based on:

  • Maintaining an average of 100 HP payout from posts per week = 5200 HP - which means making sure I continue to post regularly,
  • A contribution of 1000 HP from my HIVE:HBD trading fund,
  • Contributions of around 1200 HP from curation and the APR on HP - which should be achievable based on my calculations of what I have now, and what I hope to gain going forward.

The above are achievable, but are dependent on the price of HIVE and how it changes of the year, so we'll see what happens.

As above, the EDS growth will be gained via delegating a portion of my HP income each week to @eds-vote.

However, I do also have other plans for 2023. I will track my progress against some of them (not all) and will likely report progress against some of them - but they wont be hard set goals, but just things I choose to also work on in the background. This will include:

  • Continuing to grow my HIVE:HBD trading fund, which will help me to achieve the contribution that I want to send from it to hit my primary goal. I'll do that by adding small amounts of HP/HBD to my trades each week from the bits and pieces of HP and HBD I get from various other income (like HP delegations) - this will help to grow the gains I get from each trade over the long term,
  • I will also continue to delegate more HP to some community curation accounts (@qurator, @pinmapple, @curangel, @curie and @ocdb). I think these accounts do a great job, and have certainly helped me while I've been growing, and as such, it only feels right to continue to delegate to them in return (and grow that delegation),
  • I really like the DAB/DBOND project, and having now bought the CLUB token, I'm looking forward to seeing what else will come from that project in 2024 - so will likely invest further into it,
  • I'm enjoying the high payouts from the DRIP token, and will continue to invest further into that in small bits and pieces here and there,
  • There are also a number of layer 2 tokens that I collect, stake and delegate for further small gains. This includes ALIVE, LOLZ and PIMP, and I particularly like the LOLZ DeFi side of things and how that all works - so will continue to grow my stake in all of that, but it will mostly be via passive gains and post payouts in any relevant tribe tokens,
  • I will continue to enjoying playing play-2-earn games. I mostly re-invest any earnings from these back into the game, but I do take out some value now and again to support various investments. The games I will be continuing to play are Rising Star, Stardom, Splinterlands, REALM (on the wax blockchain) and Golem Overlord. I'm likely to also start playing Big Dog Bone. Plus Holozing is looking pretty interesting so that may be another I'll add. And I'm also really intrigued by Exode - but I need to research it more first,
  • I will continue with my tribe token experiment on my @hoosieboy account, which is exploring multiple methods including post tagging, delegation to curation accounts and rebalancing as constructive methods that work with each other to grow holdings in selected layer 2 tribe tokens. Its small beer, but very interesting to me - you can check out the latest post on that via my alt account (@hoosieboy).
  • I will continue to participate in LPUD each month, when I have enough LEO. I'm largely doing that passively via an HP delegation to @leo-voter, and delegation all of my LEO POWER to @india-leo - both of which give me daily payments in LEO. Thats working well for me and hopefully the value of LEO will continue to improve. There is so much going on in the Leo-verse, that it seems like a good thing to be part of,
  • I'll continue to grow my SPS stake in splinterlands, and also the stakes I have in a couple of the splinterlands liquidity pools. These also seem to work well together, and when my SPS gains from within the game are also added to that, it should help even further.

So I do have quite a few other things on the go. The last one I want to mention is HBD. My intention is to move into HBD when the price of HIVE improves (in other words when its closer to or above $1). So I havent set any goals for that yet, but its always on my watch list.

Summary

I'm very pleased with the progress I've made during 2023 and I'm very grateful to those within the Hive community that have helped me to achieve it. The way that Hive works means that we are all basically working together to make it bigger and better each year and thats what I like the most about it.

For 2024, I'm hoping to build on 2023, and do even better, and being active with the Saturday Savers Club is again going to be an important part of that. I'm very grateful to @shanibeer for what she does with running the club - I just love being a part of it. I find its members very supportive and the posts they produce are a great source of ideas and tips on making savings and investments here on Hive (and beyond), and the various projects that are available.

So heres looking forward to 2024 - lets all work together and make it awesome !!!

That is quite the accomplishment! Best of luck to you in the future with all of your goals!

I've got to say - that is a beautiful picture. All the colours, landscape and boat, are complementary to each other. I've snaffled a copy for my inspiring pictures collection. One of the things I like with the iPad photo storage is there's a field for capturing, in this case, the url of the source post, so I can reference them if I decide to use them for anything. Although I do just enjoy gazing at them.

You did a great job with your goals this year. You're right, things are ever-changing on Hive, who knows what innovations the coming year will bring!

Well done @hoosie best of luck with your future goals wishing you success in the new year ahead
