To be honest a lot of people doesn't know about Personal Finance and that's the bad thing. With the help of YouTube and blogs people are getting educated but still there are a lot of people who actually doesn't have any idea about Personal Finance.
Personal Finance doesn't mean that we should invest only. It means that we should be financially aware. This means knowing our risk appetite, whether we are insured, and why we should insure ourselves. Along with that, knowing how much we need in the future and whether we are saving as per that. These things are very ordinary, but the problem is that we actually miss them.
To be honest, most of what is taught in our school will be of no use in the future. But managing money and understanding the importance of insurance are really important in any field. So, the thing is, there are a lot of subjects, but at least they have a common subject for Personal Finance only so that the kid will be more aware of what he can expect in the future.
I know even if we say this will not change. But we can change it, we can make our kids understand the basics of money, what is investment, what is insurance and other things. In this way, even though the school doesn't teach them, you can make them future-ready. And it is not lot, we just have to teach them the basics. Even if they know the basics, they will be ahead of most people.
I actually been taught about money from my childhood, I have seen the struggle. I have seen how we have 6 months of emergency fund, which was used when my father was jobless for a year, and we have to borrow money for the other 6 months. So not all kids will be able to experience the struggle,e and for them teaching is the best.
