I have been trying hard to make some lifestyle changes. I used to sleep late at night and wake up late in the morning. Earlier I was not even having a 6-hour sleep because of sleeping late at night and waking up early in the morning. Then later I made some changes to my sleep pattern where even if I slept very late, I tried to sleep for 8 hours minimum. That itself showed some nice improvement in health and now early night sleeping and early morning wake up is providing great health benefits that I've gradually started to see.
This all started during the start of this new year. My friend called me to play badminton in the morning. I thought it would be the best opportunity to bring the practice of waking up early. I signed up with him and paid him the money for the month. Since then I started waking up early in the morning and have been doing a lot of things.
More time in the morning
When I was young my mother used to say that whatever I read in the morning stays in my mind forever and whatever I study late at night goes out of the mind gradually. I'm not sure if it is true but it is relatable as we know that our mind will be very fresh in the morning after a rest. So we will be able to read peacefully and retain a lot of information in the morning.
I also noticed that I have so much time in the morning and I have shifted to doing some of the activities in the morning. When I compared, I noticed that I was able to accomplish more in the morning time compared to the night time. This was a plus.
Feeling very sleepy early at night
As a result of waking up early, I'm able to feel very sleepy early at night. This is a good thing. This is forcing me to bed wherever I am. If I stretch too much in the night, it makes me tired the next day so this pattern is working out making me very sleepy towards the end of the day. Some doctors also say that having a good night's sleep is very important. They insist on sleeping more during the actual nighttime than compensating in the daytime. Some Ayurveda doctors also believe that every hour during the night is connected to repairing every organ in the body.
Quality of sleep improved
As mentioned above, I noticed that a good night's sleep itself was making a lot of difference in the body. Without a proper night's sleep, I couldn't manage the day even with an 8-hour sleep during the daytime. But now that I'm sleeping during the night time, I'm able to manage even with 6 hours of sleep. This is a very good thing. The quality of sleep is usually very much visible in the morning and during the day time. If we feel energetic throughout the day and if we can stay very active, it means that having quality sleep during the night time is contributing.
