I ordered a Motorola Edge 50 fusion mobile phone through Flipkart. I will write a separate article explaining my experience with this new phone, but in this article, I would like to share my happiness in seeing how the phone was packed. These days all the mobile phone companies are doing a great job packing and sending the phone. They are providing a sturdy cardboard box that is not only good-looking but also very good. Sometimes I even reuse these cardboard boxes to store some stationaries.
Today when I was doing the unboxing, I noticed that it was written on the box itself that the package is plastic-free. Except for one small tape that was on the top, everything else was pure paper/cardboard. I'm usually someone who hates plastics or unnecessary use of plastics. Sometimes I find it hard to implement the same in the house itself but I feel very happy to see some companies like Motorola taking this very seriously and avoiding plastics.
I understand that there are a few things for which we cannot avoid plastics. Maybe we can but we are not ready yet. But for some evident things that can have non-plastic material, it is good to change because our planet is being polluted to a greater extent and it is hard for us to reverse the pollution unless we wake up.
Harmful plastics
I have written about this in the past several times. We are all suffering because of plastics and it is believed that we are eating about a SIM card size of plastic every day without our knowledge. Semen samples are also having microplastics these days reducing the fertility rates. So there are so many areas where plastic contamination is happening. We have to be aware of all these things and avoid plastic as much as we can. Maybe reusable plastics or plastics that are capable of recycling are okay to some extent but using traditional methods and avoiding plastics altogether is always better.
I wish all the mobile manufacturing companies and other packaging companies would start following the same path and reduce plastic usage. I think it will be nice if we look for alternatives and start using the alternatives instead. Bamboo-based products are available in the market and compared to all other products, Bamboo products are sustainable and can also be made cheap. The main reason is because Bamboo grows faster compared to the other natural trees. The awareness is already available but big companies should take this seriously and start doing the transition.
