Unfortunately I had to exit from Jio Air Fiber and switch to Airtel. I have been facing internet issues since the 22nd of last month. To be more precise, I had issues since I started using Jio Air Fiber. When we had floods, I switched from a wired connection to a wireless connection as the wireless connection seemed to be helpful when the internet had issues during floods and cyclones.
The internet was good during the last rains and a year before that. But the problem with Jio Air Fiber was that the speed was not consistent. They were charging me for a 100 Mbps speed broadband, but they gave me less than 5 Mbps internet, and it was also fluctuating. Looks like the nearby tower was not ready for providing the right service but still the salesperson cheated and dumped it on me. The problem was not persistent, but was there for almost 10 days a month. On other days, it was okay.
The biggest problem for me was the customer support. Even if there is a problem and someone from the customer support team had acknowledged and responded to me properly, it would have been better. But for me, they did not reply properly, and the request was on hold for several days. It was more like they were trying to play a game with me. Nobody bothered to provide me with any updates. I decided to cancel my connection and switched to Airtel instead.
Reason to switch to Airtel
I have heard that both the service providers are very bad in customer support but Jio is the worst among them. I know for a fact that I will not be getting uninterrupted services without any issues, but the problem is that they should at least respond to my concerns and try to resolve them. With Jio, I couldn't even talk to them in my language or English for that matter. The customer support people talked only Hindi or Marathi which is not a familiar tongue for people in South India. It was hard to communicate.
Another big reason why I wanted to switch to Airtel was that there are service centers nearby, and they give assurance that even if my ticket is not answered on time, I can always walk into the showroom and speak to the manager to escalate the issue. That's better, I think. With Jio, I did not even have a pleasant experience with the Appelete authorities. Looks like they are also the same as the regular Jio customer care people. They were not sensible. Here in Airtel, at least I can talk to a real human face-to-face, and also I can talk to them in my regional language. The chance of getting cheated is very less here.
I have already switched to Airtel, and I got my connection on the 1st of this month. In parallel, they have cancelled my Jio Air Fiber connection too. One small concern is that the router they have given in Airtel is not a powerful one. The range is very poor. It is not a good idea to have a range extender in every room. That's the only big concern for me with Airtel right now. Otherwise, as this is a wired connection, the connection is stable and I will know the actual problem only if it rains.
