House designs have changed from roof type to flat floor type

in LeoFinance5 days ago

In the architectural advancement, there is one thing that we have to note. The roof used to be triangular. I have seen many old houses and even across countries, and this is how it was. But recently, maybe a few decades back, the type has changed. There is no triangle-shaped roofing. But instead, it is more like a flat floor where we can walk on top and make use of that space.

There should have been some reason to have kept it like a roof type. Now that it is summer, it is very hot over here, I'm wondering if the reason would have been to reduce the heat penetrating through the roof into the rooms. Maybe having that type helped reflect the Sun's heat and thus kept everything considerably cooler compared to that of a flat surface in the terrace. Today we can do even terrace gardening because we are maintaining a flat surface.

The triangle-type roof was very helpful design when it comes to installing solar panels. There are still homes that are using that type of roof in their house, and it is not very complicated to have solar panels in houses of that type. Another interesting thing about these flat roof types is that they also paint them with white color so that they reflect heat and reduce the temperature in the house. Maybe the triangle-type roofs are capable of reducing the heat even to a greater extent.

I have seen some old homes in villages where there will also be an opening in the middle of the house with sky visibility. This is a very common design in all the old homes. People sit under that and have chats during the evenings and nighttime. This also keeps the entire house cool as per the design. Looks like we have had some beautiful designs for houses, but recently, we have forgotten all those things and are moving more towards concrete structures without proper ventilation. Our ancestors have given good importance to ventilation because without that, we have lots of health issues these days.

In Europe most houses still use the triangular shaped roofs, flat roofs tend to be a lot warmer indeed.

Great solar work there. Just like you said, the flat roof is more in vogue now even over here and they indeed come in very handy when it has to do with solar installation

You are doing well. You choiced of work is also great keep it up

In some roofs, you will see something like a little house on it
It’s creative though but the world is gradually moving away from that

Flat roofs are a thing of last 10 years about here... I never understood why, maybe requires less manutention? Anyway houses with flat roof looks modern, I like it

Well I believe that house design keeps evolving as day goes by which for me is a strong sign actually

using solar on your rooftoop is one of the best way i think.

Our ancestors' insights into climate adaptation and creating comfortable living spaces are invaluable lessons in sustainable architecture that we should strive to incorporate in today's designs.
