Hi,
since I was little, I was feeling a stronger bond more to animals, then to people. The first puppy, a mix breed, between a Transylvanian hound and a German shorthair pointer, came into my life at the age of 6, and she was my companion for a good 10 years. It was a friendship and a bound that helped me a lot. She sadly passed away, after being poisoned, and despite all the effort, we could not save her. As it was a hunting dog, we never had a rat issue, even if one tried to enter our yard, it was instantly killed. This dog was very loyal, waited every time I came from school and from sports at the entry of the house, and always happy.
The second one came when I was 17 and was a Romanian Bucovina shepherd dog, also from very small, which lived or 11 years. At the time of passing, it weighted 85 kg, which is a normal weight for this type of dogs. This one, was very temperamental, liked kids, but not too many adults, and had an instinct for bad people. We had once a robber trying to steal from the garden, and he has let him in, but not any more out. He bit into his hand and did not let him go, even dragged him through the whole yard. We could barely manage to convince him that everything is fine and that he needs to let the man go. Of course, we pressed charges. I always do, as there is no excuse in stealing.
We also had a lot of cats, generations of cats. The cats got along perfectly with the dogs, as when the dogs have been puppies, they got used to baby cats, and they have grown together. I loved the cats, tended them, but they are not as such loyal as a dog. Dog understands what you want, cats hope that you understand what they want. I might be biased, as I'm a dog person, playing with almost every dog I see. I was never attacked by a dog, and also get along with very aggressive ones. I think dogs can feel persons, smell them and instinctively react.
How about you? Did you have pets?
