El Hotel de luna es un lugar en donde se ubican los fantasma, o mejor dicho es una lugar en donde las personas luego de morir pueden ir y esperar su momento para partir al más allá, o también quedarse un tiempo hasta resolver los asuntos pendientes que dejaron, este hotel es manejado por Jang Man-wol (Lee Ji-eun) una mujer que tras sufrir mucho en su vida y pasar por una serie de eventos entre los que pierda a la persona más cercana que tenía, busca el hotel de luna para poder llevar las almas que tiene, partiendo de eso modo a ser la dueña del mismo.

Llevan años en ello y guardando rencor cada uno por sus vidas pasadas, solo hasta que llega Koo Chang-sung (Yeo Jin-goo) un joven estudiado de Harvard que estaba destinado a ser el gerente humano del hotel, viene a cambiarle el mundo a todos, no solo a los encargados del mismo sino también a los huéspedes, ya que a medida que avanza su estadía en el mismo va entendiendo a cada uno e intenta apoyarlos para que puedan avanzar.

Es una historia que conmueve ya que se puede apreciar lo que pasa después de morir como algunos mueren de una manera desafortunada dejando cabos sueltos en su vida, así como otros hasta no culminar lo que en vida quisieran haber logrado no pueden seguir adelante, y otros que, pese a que al estar muerte el tiempo ya no transcurre el rencor que puedas guardar si, y para poder seguir adelante ha de terminar con ello. La vida es una sola, y a veces cuando estas cerca de la muerte o muerto es que te das cuenta de que había que aprovecharla, que pese a lo que viviste no fue de tu agrado no hay que quedarse pegado a ello, hay que darse la oportunidad de comenzar de nuevo.

El dejar atrás a los demás nunca será fácil, ni vivos ni muertos, Man-wol entenderá ello con apoyo de Chang-sun, aprendiendo de que a una muerta le queda mucho que entender de ambos mundos, el hotel de luna no es solo para quedarse ahí y relajarse es un medio para dar fin a una historia y dar comienzo a otra, es el final y principio para cada uno.
