This Saturday we had a chess tournament at school; it was a special day because my son passionately loves this sport. I don't think he'll dedicate his life to chess, as he's also enthusiastic in other areas, but chess has been one of the best things that has happened to him.
Diagnosed with fairly mild ADHD, he struggles to concentrate; it's as if everything happens to him on impulse. This doesn't affect his academic results, except when he doesn't pay attention to the order of an exercise and is already finishing it. It's difficult, but chess came into his life to discipline him and help him concentrate.
He wanted a chess book, but I could only get him a digital one. So, tablet in hand, he has transcribed numerous moves.
He also participated in the creation of a huge chess board at the Academy of Plastic Arts, "Paint Me a Tree," a project coordinated by the visual artist José Antonio Hechavarría. We later reproduced this beautiful experience in a small format at home.
No one in our home has ever played chess; I only learned the basics, so whenever he meets someone who also likes the sport, he immediately takes out the board and pieces to challenge them to a game.
He once fulfilled his dream of attending the Provincial Academy, but he lost so much focus that he lost both games. However, here he is again, step by step. This Saturday, he won all his games, so he'll soon be returning to the Academy. How gratifying it is to be able to accompany him in this dream.💜

SÁBADO DE AJEDREZ
Saludos a la hermosa comunidad de las madres y los padres.
Este sábado tuvimos torneo de ajedrez en la escuela, fue un día especial porque mi hijo ama con pasión este deporte. No creo que vaya a dedicar su vida al ajedrez, ya que también se siente entusiasmado en otros campos, pero el ajedrez ha sido una de las mejores cosas que le ha sucedido.
Diagnosticado con un TDAH bastante leve, le cuesta trabajo concentrarse, es como si todo se diera en él por impulsos. Esto no afecta los resultados escolares, salvo cuando no presta atención a la orden de un ejercicio y ya lo está terminando. Es difícil, mas el ajedrez llegó a su vida para disciplinarlo y ayudarlo en la concentración.
Quería un libro de ajedrez, pero solo pude conseguirle uno digital. Así que, Tablet en mano, ha transcrito numerosas jugadas.
También participó en la confección de un enorme tablero de ajedrez en la Academia de Artes Plásticas “Píntame un árbol”, proyecto que coordina el artista de la plástica José Antonio Hechavarría. Luego reprodujimos esta hermosa experiencia en un pequeño formato en casa.
En nuestro hogar nadie ha practicado ajedrez, yo solo aprendí lo elemental, así que cada vez que encuentra a alguien a quien también le gusta el deporte, enseguida saca tablero y piezas para conminarlo a una partida.
Una vez cumplió su sueño de asistir a la Academia provincial pero se desconcentró tanto que perdió las dos partidas. Sin embargo, aquí va de nuevo, paso a paso. Este sábado ganó todas sus partidas, así que pronto volverá a la Academia. Qué gratificante es poder acompañarlo en este sueño.💜
