A very extraordinary experience happened when several of my friends and I visited a natural recreational place located in Bireuen City, namely “Paya Kareung.” This is not a popular tourist destination, but I believe almost 70% of the people in Bireuen must know about this place. Besides being a recreational place, around this area there are also many facilities and sports fields such as a football field, volleyball court, and even a running track.
This place is also rich in natural beauty. Here, we do not need a roof for shelter because there are so many large trees that have become natural shelters. The beautiful scenery can even be seen directly as soon as we arrive at this place.
The main color in this place is green, which indicates how natural this place is. Along the roadside, we can already find so many rain trees growing on both sides of the road. These trees not only provide a shaded area and natural shelter, but also make the scenery an incredibly beautiful natural landscape.
Along the roadside, we can also find several food stalls that provide various local specialties, so we do not need to worry about coming to this place if we forget to bring equipment or supplies. This is only the scenery in the main area, and now, let’s explore this place even further.
And finally, I arrived at the main point, which is the recreational area located in front of a large swamp, or more commonly known as Paya Kareung. In this place, we can find so many huts neatly lined up along the edge of the swamp, facing towards the swamp, so we can sit and relax while enjoying the incredibly beautiful natural scenery. From several pictures that I have shared, we can already conclude that this place is very peaceful and incredibly quiet, with a cool atmosphere combined with the refreshing breeze that continuously blows against our bodies.
Just like most other tourist attractions or recreational places in Aceh, this place will also be crowded with visitors in the afternoon, and that is a very normal thing. While I was sitting and relaxing, I suddenly realized that from this place, I could see the beautiful view of the tall buildings in Bireuen City.
The natural scenery is incredibly beautiful, and green is its main color. However, it is very unfortunate that the swamp has already been filled with water hyacinth plants. The good news is that these plants can become nests and shelters for fish and other aquatic creatures, but their uncontrolled population has made them a bad thing, such as causing water blockages and reducing the oxygen levels in the water.
In my personal opinion, this is one of the most amazing recreational places in Bireuen City because it has such beautiful scenery and a natural atmosphere that is incredibly calming, and it is highly recommended to visit. And the good news is that this place also provides various sports facilities, so there are so many fun things that we can do here.
