Hello friends, I hope you are all well. About 8 months ago, I had posted about when I went to Mahasthangarh. Which was a archaeological site of Behula Laxmindar in Mahasthangarh and from there I went to another place in Mahasthangarh called Bhashu Vihar. Which is very beautiful to look at. But the place is located in the middle of the village. There are many such vihars around Bogra city.
I went to Mahasthangarh. Then I hired an auto rickshaw from there and I left for Bhashu Vihar. Which took me about an hour. I reached there and after reaching there I felt very cold. It was basically a winter morning. Then I started looking around. Basically it was like an empty field. You can see that there are some high mud pillars here, these are basically terracotta plaques. In the past, these were made by burning clay.
The place I went to is called Vasu Vihar. According to various sources, I know that it was built around the 10th to 11th century. At that time, this region was basically a capital of the Gauda kings. Where there were mainly monks and Buddhists. The place you see was basically like a school. There are about 10 to 12 such large structures around Bogra city. Which were once like schools. In these places, Buddhist monks used to make their students gain knowledge. People from far away countries come here to gain knowledge.
The terracotta fruits that you can see are small rooms. Basically, there are many rooms here, I could not count how many rooms there are here. In these small rooms, those who came to gain knowledge lived here. These ancient monuments were excavated in the 18th century and these ruins were found by digging the soil. The current government has kept them as archaeological monuments in this place.
I liked the place a lot. There were small stairs here that I found and climbed up. Then I was walking on the ground where the house was basically filled with earth. Due to which they were mixed with the earth. There I saw some people who were mainly villagers cutting grass here. I also saw several methods there who had come here from different districts and they had come here to visit this place.
Many things made of earth were found here. Such as lamps, clay beads, terracotta plaques and various idols. These are currently in the Bogra city museum. Anyway, I like the place a lot. I was there for about an hour. I visited the place and took many pictures around. I hope you like my post, thank you all.
