Qta Peru-Alambre Park Trail🌄 / Sendero Qta Peru-Parque Alambre🚩 (En-Es)

in Worldmappin2 days ago
Good morning, my nature and travel-loving friends! Today I created a trail using several paths I'd never taken before. I took it upon myself to plot a route on Google Maps so I could start from the famous Qta do Peru neighborhood and reach the famous Alambre camping park. This involves a 22km hike—quite demanding, then. We'll pass through a group of villages, visit nature reserves, learn about the landscape, enter a cave, and much more.🌄⛺

The route starts at "urb qta do peru", which we don't have access to because it's a private area, literally only the rich live there hehe xD, but the trail starts in front of this street, then we'll take the sand road that goes down through the park "sesimbra park" for approximately 6km, this section of the trail is boring, quite dry and there's not much to see, I even warn you that in summer it's very hot! I recommend lots of water and snacks, because you'll only be able to buy things when you get to the "alambre" camp and that's after 11km. Recommendation? Do it in summer, wear hiking boots and walking sticks, and a hat too.✍🏻🚙⛺

If you've read some of my previous posts, you'll know that I've been hunting for wild orchids as a hobby. Although there are many orchids that bloom in spring, the trail didn't have many to offer. So, when I came across some, I wanted to identify them and learn about them! These are Orchis italica, a fairly common orchid in Portugal, and they are abundant in the south of the country. So far, the trail has allowed us to photograph wild orchids.🧭🌍🚩

This whole area is a bit arid and has forests with small and shrubby vegetation, with pines predominating as the largest trees. You can see a layer of organic matter that is released from the branches of the pines and is characteristic of "Sesimbra". Now the sand is typical of the beach, which is why few plants can grow in these environments. When we get closer to the mountains, the landscape changes. I have to confess that today it was 24 degrees, but it was too hot, I don't want to imagine this in summer with 32 degrees, uff...🚩🌍🧭

By the way, this last photo is a hacienda. There are many around here, and I found out they're hotels, open-air places where you can spend a night for less than 80 euros with many benefits, including food. The attraction is that the area is private, giving you many kilometers to walk in privacy.🧭🗺️

blocked street😥

Last week was crazy. A hurricane hit here and left nothing but devastation everywhere, tons of downed trees! And it happened to me on this trail. It turns out that when I was just under 4km from the camping park, right as I entered the mountains, there was this pine tree fallen from the roots and blocking my path! I thought...oh oh!!! What do I do now??? Well, luckily for me, I went underneath it among the branches!🌍

Setubal and Sesimbra are synonymous with winemaking. High-quality wines and grapes are produced here. They can't be compared to those in Porto, but there are some nice houses in this area! Other estates offer outdoor activities; some are rented out in the summer because they have swimming pools.🧭🌄

Imagine walking along the main street a little less than 2km from reaching the camp and looking to the left side heading southwest and seeing something that looks like a cave among the hidden vegetation... Suddenly I got curious and went to investigate, there is nothing on gmaps... literally this place does not exist... but what is it?😥😶

BeFunky-collage (43).jpg

There is absolutely nothing on the internet about this cave, but inside it has a small water source. Before, it was built to give water to animals and people who made long journeys. Built from the 15th century onwards, they are quite old. This one here looks more like a Catholic prayer room, which, well... now has other purposes... black magic, things like that!🚩😥

return path🌷👨🏻‍🏫

Beautiful scenery, with the mountains in the background. The weather has changed; it's cooler now! The vegetation has changed too. We now see small rivers and lagoons! Without a doubt, this is my favorite part of the trail! By the way, we've already reached the park. On the way back, we'll pass through the villages of Piedade and Casais.🌍

Wow, what an adventure! 🚶‍♂️🌿 I love how you created your own route and made the most of lesser-known trails. The mix of nature reserves, wild orchids, and even a mysterious cave? That’s next-level exploring! The views, the biodiversity, the history—you really packed it all in. And those tips about the heat and gear are super helpful too. Honestly, reading this felt like going on the hike with you. Can’t wait to see more of your explorations. Keep blazing new paths and sharing them with us! 🌄🗺️✨
