Hello everyone. I hope you're well and everything's fine. The mood is even better these days. It rained in Istanbul after a long time and the city became cooler. The humidity in the air decreased with the rain. After a long time we could breathe a sigh of relief. I felt a little cold on my way to work in the morning. I should have bought a thin cardigan. It was nice to wake up with an unexpected surprise in August, especially in a place like Istanbul. Although the rain gave way to sunny weather towards noon, it was not too hot. I hope the coming days will continue like this. At least for a few days. 😅
Herkese merhaba. Umarım iyisinizdir ve her şey yolundadır. Bugünlerde keyifler daha da iyi. Uzun zaman sonra İstanbul’a yağmur yağdı ve şehir adeta serinledi. Yağmurla birlikte havadaki nem oranı da azaldı. Uzun zaman sonra rahat bir nefes alabildik. Sabah işe giderken az bişey de üşüdüm. İnce bi hırka alsam iyi olacakmış. Ağustos ayında hele ki İstanbul gibi bir yerde hiç beklenmedik bir sürprizle uyanmak güzel oldu. Öğleye doğru yağmur yerini güneşli havaya bıraksa da çok fazla sıcak değildi. Umarım önümüzdeki günler bu şekilde devam eder. En azından birkaç gün. 😅
Two days ago, after work, we made plans for okey with friends. If you have noticed, we have been hanging out and playing okey with friends a lot lately. The reason for this is that my wife is on holiday in her hometown. 😅
If he was here, I wouldn't be able to go out so much. Even if I did, my wife would be with me.
Anyway, let's get back to the subject. While waiting for friends on Üsküdar beach, I had dinner first and then visited the Valide-i Cedid mosque. I will talk about it today.
İki gün önce iş çıkışı sonrası arkadaşlarla okey için plan yapmıştık. Fark ettiyseniz son zamanlarda arkadaşlarla çok fazla takılıp okey oynuyoruz. Bunun nedeni ise eşimin memleketinde tatilde olması. 😅
Burda olsaydı eğer çok fazla dışarı çıkamazdım. Çıksam bile yanımda eşim de olurdu.
Her neyse konumuza dönelim. Arkadaşları Üsküdar sahilde beklerken önce yemek yedim ardından Valide-i Cedid camisini ziyaret ettim. Bugün bunun üzerine konuşacağım.
When I first came to Istanbul, I was very curious about the historical structure and architectural works of the city. I was trying to visit on my free days. When I first came to Istanbul, I was especially visiting these places because my house was close to Üsküdar. I visited the Valide-i Cedid mosque for a short time when I first arrived. While waiting for my friends, I took the opportunity to visit the mosque in detail.
İstanbul’a ilk geldiğim zamanlar şehrin tarihi yapısını, mimari eserlerini çok merak ediyordum. Boş günlerimde gezmeye çalışıyordum. İlk geldiğim zamanlarda evim Üsküdar’a yakın olduğu için özellikle buraları geziyordum. Valide-i Cedid camisini ilk geldiğim zamanlarda kısa süreliğine ziyaret etmiştim. Arkadaşları beklerken fırsatten istifade ederek detaylı olarak camiyi gezdim.
Firstly, I visited the inside of the mosque. I have visited so many mosques in Istanbul that remarkable things are now normal to my eyes. The interior architectural structure of the mosque was carefully prepared. All four sides were covered with decorations. The fact that it is so dense rather than its simple structure makes you feel spiritually peaceful rather than tiring your eyes.
İlk olarak caminin içerisini gezdim. İstanbul’da o kadar cami gezdim ki dikkat çekici şeyler artık gözüme normal geliyor. Caminin iç mimari yapısı özenle hazırlanmış. Dört bir tarafı da süslemelerle kaplıydı. Sade yapısından ziyade bu kadar yoğun oluşu insanın gözlerini yormaktan ziyade manevi olarak huzurlu hissettiriyor.
The number of columns inside is quite high. It shows that necessary precautions were taken against a possible earthquake when it was built during the Ottoman period.
The exterior of the mosque is a continuation of the interior. It extends towards the courtyard. Perhaps it was extended later because there was not enough space. Since it was not prayer time, it was not very crowded inside.
İçerideki kolon sayısı oldukça fazla. Osmanlı döneminde inşa edilirken olası bir depreme karşı gerekli tedbirlerin alındığı gösteriyor.
Caminin dış kısmı içerinin devamı niteliğinde. Avluya doğru uzanmış. Belki de sonradan yeterli alan olmadığı için uzatılmıştır. Namaz vakti olmadığı için içerisi çok fazla kalabalık değildi.
It is not only correct to talk about it as a mosque, it also serves as a complex. Although it is not actively used today.
There was an exhibition in the courtyard on this visit. It coincided very well.
90 per cent of the exhibition was calligraphy.
Sadece cami diye bahsetmek doğru olmaz aynı zamanda külliye görevi de görüyor. Her ne kadar günümüzde aktif olarak kullanılmasa da.
Bu gidişimde avluda sergi vardı. Çok iyi denk geldi.
Serginin %90’ını hat sanatları oluşturuyordu.
The courtyard of the mosque was more crowded due to the exhibition. Since I took calligraphy lessons during my university years, it also attracted my attention.
Decorated vases, cup sets, plate sets and many more. Some of the products were on sale besides the exhibition. However, their prices were a bit expensive.
If my wife was with me, she would probably buy a few of them. 😅
Sergiden kaynaklı olarak caminin avlusu daha çok kalabalıktı. Üniversite dönemlerinde hat dersi aldığım için benim de dikkatimi çekti.
Süslemeli vazolar, fincan takımları, tabak setleri ve daha niceleri. Bazı ürünlerin serginin yanında satışları da vardı. Ancak fiyatları biraz pahalıydı.
Eşim yanımda olsa muhtemelen birkaç tanesini satın alırdı. 😅
The exhibition that attracted my attention the most in the courtyard was Ebru art. Two women were introducing the art of marbling and drawing at the same time. I couldn't take many photos because the exhibition was crowded. At the last stage, I took a clear photo by asking the sister. Don't you think it looks great? I had done marbling art a few times before, but since I was not a professional, beautiful images did not come out. 😅
Avluda dikkatimi en çok çeken sergi ise Ebru sanatı oldu. İki tane kadın ebru sanatını tanıtıp aynı zamanda çizim yapıyorlardı. Serginin etrafı kalabalık olduğu için çok fazla fotoğraf çekemedim. En son aşamada abladan rica ederek net bir fotoğraf çektim. Sizce de harika görünmüyor mu? Daha önce birkaç kez bende ebru sanatı yapmıştım ancak profesyonel olmadığım için ortaya güzel görüntüler çıkmamıştı. 😅
It is possible to see a fountain in almost all historical mosques. As in the Valide-i Cedid mosque. This fountain built in the middle of the courtyard was a little small compared to the mosque. I wanted to wash my hand but I couldn't wash it because there was no water coming to the fountain. Maybe it was faulty.
The historical tree in the outer garden of the mosque was accompanying the mosque. Although a large part of the tree was rotten, it was still standing.
Tarihi camilerin hemen hemen hepsinde şadırvan görmek mümkün. Valide-i Cedid caminde olduğu gibi. Avlunun tam ortasına inşa edilen bu şadırvan camiye oranla biraz küçüktü. Elimi yıkamak istedim ancak şadırvana su gelmediği için yıkayamadım. Belkide arızalıydı.
Caminin dış bahçesinde bulunan tarihi ağaç camiye eşlik ediyordu. Ağacın büyük bir kısmı çürümüş olmasına rağmen ayakta duruyordu.
In addition to all these, the mosque is in a very good location. It is close to the metro, the Maiden's Tower and the beach, which increases the number of visitors. Although it was not crowded when I went. I recommend you to visit if you are travelling to Üsküdar. It is within walking distance to the Maiden's Tower.
