The world has changed a lot, especially since AI and ML became a thing. The IT industry is undergoing a great transformation, which can last 5 years up to a decade. Many experts have started providing their thoughts on this topic. Today, many companies have started investing a lot of AI-related things. They either try to build AI tools or integrate existing AI tools into their software. This is how the next revenue generation model is going to be. Any product that does not have any AI elements in its software might get outdated.
Coding as a career
People who are just out of college come with a lot of skills, and AI should also be a skill. They should at least have a basic understanding of AI and what AI is capable of doing. Those who are going to be dependent on coding as a career can have a setback. The main reason is that coding is something that is autogenerated today with the help of AI and ML. We have to give necessary prompts to the AI for it to generate all the code we want. This is very popular right now, and even a non-technical person can make use of this skill and make some money from that.
In general, it is also good to stick to one programming language and understand all the basic programming. This way even if there is a need to switch to any other programming language, it can be done with limited efforts if we are strong in concepts and fundamentals.
Investing in IT stocks
People who are into stock trading and investment should be very careful about where they are investing. Many startup companies and venture capitalists are focusing on AI-related software development. This has been the case for the last year and this industry is drastically developing. The problem with such companies is that they are unable to sustain themselves for a longer period in the market. The entertainment industry and other industries are having a good time because they are all blooming, whereas IT industry is currently in confusion state and many jobs are being replaced with automations and AI.
Having a non-IT side hustle
For people who are already in the IT industry, it is better to consider doing some side hustle that is non-IT. The main reason is because if we have a need to get away from the IT industry, we can do it and be safe with an additional source of income. We have to keep observing the trend in which our company is moving, and we should also adapt to that trend. People who are not upskilling might have a tough time to survive in the IT industry.
Those who think that they would like to get started with coding something can still explore some modern coding. The important thing to node here is that they should know all the fundamentals. If there is a need for coding and development, it can still be related to AI, so it is better to understand the potential of AI and study coding accordingly.
