For every popular product out there, there is always some free alternative available in the market. I think necessity is the mother of invention. If someone gets frustrated with the high pricing of any paid software, they just create a free version of the product with similar features. It can sometimes be hard to replicate all the features the paid software has, but it is not the end of the world. There will always be competitors in the market and sometimes it can even be a good one. Either available for a reduced cost or available for free. In this article we are going to see about one such product.
Microsoft is overrated
When I started using some products that were alternatives to Microsoft products, I started getting the feeling that Microsoft is overrated. The products of Microsoft are also very costly compared to the products that are available for a cheaper price or for free. The operating system, Office application, SQL application, etc, are all paid software, but there are free alternatives out there, which I started admiring only after I started using the alternatives. We cannot imagine how much money we would be able to save with the help of this.
I understand that Apple has a good standard, and that's why, even though their products are very costly, people still purchase those products and use them. Microsoft is also similar, and it has its fanbase. It is overrated because of this fan base and user base. I know many people who have gradually switched to free alternatives from Microsoft products. But at the same time Microsoft would continue to do enough marketing to bring back users who are lost as well.
Google workspace
I have always found Google Workspace to be sufficient compared to Microsoft Office. They are available for free. That's the first and important thing. The second thing is that Google Workspace provides more features compared to what Microsoft office is offering. I know that many companies have been using Microsoft Office 365 for their needs, but there are also companies who straight away start with Google Workspace and provide that flexibility to their users.
For some people, the features of Microsoft 365 may not even be necessary but recently, Microsoft pushed Co-pilot integration and made it a bit costly as well. People have been switching to free alternatives since then. The best alternative that people usually choose is the Google Workspace. The version control is also very good, and people don't find any issues if Google Workspace gets an update. The updates are seamless.
Security can be another aspect to think about, but since the world is evolving and things are moving to the cloud anyway, both products have their security handling done very well. More than a desktop application, people find it very interesting and easy to work directly on the browser. This is one of the greatest features that our modern world is giving us.
