It's time for the ZAPFIC50 Friday challenge. This challenge by @felt-buzz presented the opportunity to explore the prompt "farewell". We know generally what the word means. Goodbye in some form or fashion.
The key to the term is whether the well wishes come from a place of grace or grief. Often individuals express their feelings non-verbally, opting instead to send the message without face-to-face confrontation. I share a flash fiction story along those lines. Hope you enjoy.
My story is below:
Briana could barely decipher the hastily scribbled word "Farewell" by Adrian on the postcard.
Staring blankly, thinking, what the hell! When did he have time?
She'd heard of trending breakup tactics. But three thousands miles from home!
Countermeasures intervened.
Single-minded purpose replaced angry tears as she devised her own breakup.

Es hora del reto del viernes de ZAPFIC50. Este reto, propuesto por @felt-buzz, nos ha brindado la oportunidad de explorar el tema «adiós». En general, sabemos lo que significa esta palabra: una forma u otra de decir «adiós».
La clave del término está en si los buenos deseos provienen de un lugar de elegancia o de dolor. A menudo, las personas expresan sus sentimientos de forma no verbal, optando por enviar el mensaje sin una confrontación cara a cara. Comparto un relato breve en esa línea. Espero que lo disfrutéis.

Briana apenas podía descifrar la palabra «Adiós», garabateada apresuradamente por Adrián en la postal.
Se quedó mirándola sin comprender, pensando: «¡Pero qué demonios! ¿Cuándo ha tenido tiempo?».
Había oído hablar de las tácticas de ruptura que estaban de moda. ¡Pero a cinco mil kilómetros de casa!
Tomó medidas para contrarrestarlo.
Un propósito inquebrantable sustituyó a las lágrimas de rabia mientras ideaba su propia ruptura.
