For this week's ZAPFIC50 Monday challenge, the prompt "grind" is a word I'm familiar with pertaining to my life story. Or, at least, that's how I perceived it. As a young adult, working full time while raising children placed a heavy burden on my shoulders. Not only me, but millions of families faced this predicament as two working parents were required to keep one household afloat and intact.
This was especially true when both parents worked different work schedules. Pressures of home life and work life balance tended to build pressure that felt like a daily grind with no relief in sight for many years. I share a story along those lines.
The challenge was created by @felt-buzz and is told in exactly fifty (50) words.
My story is below:
Head of the family at age 16, three younger siblings and non-sober mother
unintentionally forced Joel's angst to submission.
He hadn't a choice of busting rocks.
Joel loathed railroad work. But, it built muscles and character.
It was the meager weekly stipend that barely fed himself.
Situation: Uneducated and inescapable.

Para el desafío ZAPFIC50 Monday de esta semana, la palabra «grind» (trabajar duro) es un término que me resulta familiar por mi propia experiencia vital. O, al menos, así es como lo percibí. Cuando era joven, trabajar a tiempo completo mientras criaba a mis hijos supuso una gran carga para mí. No solo yo, sino millones de familias se enfrentaban a esta difícil situación, ya que se requería que ambos padres trabajaran para mantener el hogar a flote e intacto.
