Greg left the school premises at about noon and arrived at the city terminal forty minutes later. He searched his pocket diligently, making sure that he touched the right spots to fish out the last cash on him. His heart raced about as he searched effortlessly to get it out. Finally he hooked it and dragged his fingers out with a worrying look. When he saw the note he heaved a sigh of relief. At least that cash will take him home.
Now in the bus he thought about what he will tell his uncle why he has to leave school so soon back home unannounced. His thoughts failed him. He simply sat back in the bus and kept thinking with a lot of lies flying thought his mind. As they passed through a popular roadside market he decided to order for a cold ice cream. He has been taking this ice cream for years now but one particular thing struck him as he sip this one. The taste - it is not the usual flavour. Maybe the bad economy has also effected the manufacturer to reduce quality which has now affected the flavour.
Greg quickly licked it and sat back again. His kind went back to his previous thoughts - the lies he will tell his uncle. And as he kept ruminating over this matter the bus stopped and it was time to alight. Greg is few meters away from the house of his uncle. This time around he developed cold feet to even trek towards the house. He knows what will be all him if his uncle finds out the real reason why he came back home that early.
