Elena woke up as early as possible to prepare for the job interview. She checked her blouse again - that was the third time she had done that since she woke up, it was perfect. She had ironed it three times within the week just to make sure it looks sharp and smart. This job matters to me, she said. I'll do all I can to land it. First impression matters in job hunt.
Before her siblings could make up in the morning - they usually wake up by 6:00am, Elena had gone to the city metro station to board the train. In the next thirty minutes the train had taken off to the city centre, venue of the job interview.
It took then barely forty-five minutes to get to the city centre. Elena had no difficulty locating the venue for the interview. On getting there the gate was still locked 🔐. Elena banged at the gate and a middle-aged man came out. Elena introduced herself and the man simply nodded.
As Elena finished the man pointed at the other side of the gate and asked Elena to go there and read a notice pasted there. Curiously Elena went there. It was a notice informing all job applicants that the scheduled interview had been shifted because of the two days national holidays declared by the federal government. Elena was stunned. She didn't even bother to check her weekly planner or even listened to tht radio, otherwise she would have heard about the holidays.
Slowly she retraced hers steps to the place she will board another carb to the metro station where she will board the train and go home. Throughout that day Elena felt bad. Wanted journey she kept telling herself.
This is my entry for the day's @daily.prompt: FIRST IMPRESSION
