For over a decade now the oil rich community of Khesish have carried on their various activities without any incidence of oil leakages or pipeline breakages. In the years past those were common news as oil thieves habitually throng Khesish and tamper with crude oil installations which usually result in leakages and even fire outbreaks.
In one of such occasion when the oil thieves struck, their entire farmland located close to the lagoon and even aquatic lives were badly damaged. That singular incident drew the ire of the public with the government responding by placing stiffer penalties for anybody caught vandalizing any oil facility.
These measures did not deter the vandals from perpetrating their nefarious activity. On this occasion, they struck and damaged a very large part of an oil pipeline. Huge flames burst out of the damaged pipe and spread like a wildfire.
The fire safety officials could not contain the raging fire with their outdated fire fighting equipment. The fire burnt for days and damaged the entire farmlands of the Khesish people.
The government and fire fighters batteld with it for days and finally brought it under control after it had raged for over three days without restraint. The fire service agency was equipped for the future by the government with numerous modern fire fighting equipment. The Khesish people were however not happy with the government with their slow attitude to responding to emergencies and equipping public agencies with the requisite facilities they need for their jobs.
