RE: ‘Release That Witch’: When Chinese Isekai Surprises (and Doesn’t Disappoint)* 🧙‍♀️✨ [Eng+Spa] ‘Libera a esa bruja’: cuando el isekai chino sorprende (y no decepciona)

in The Anime Realmlast month

I remember stumbling on this when it was just a novel years before, until eventually I reached the day it's last chapter (Not counting the side stories after) was released, this was literally my first novel that I followed until it's completion, as in I read until the latest chapter and couldn't help but wait until the next.

It's so nostalgic to see it as a topic here, though I was honestly disappointed with the manhwa adaptation, it doesn't capture the seriousness of the novel, sure you can't exactly call it grim dark, but it was supposed to be serious and have grit enough that it shouldn't look like a partial magical girl isekai, I went back to re-reading the novel rather than stomaching the manhwa.

Sort:

The design and tone of the manhwa were definitely lightened up; I agree with that. So the anime adaptation, which retains some of the epic survival feel, is something that caught my attention.

I had also read the entire novel first and then followed the manhwa adaptation, but I don't remember up to which chapter I read the latter. In this anime, I hope they manage to cover the story arc up to the battle against the duke, but I don't know if they can do that in just a few episodes, given the pacing of the narrative. It's possible the entire season will be dedicated solely to the beginning and the events of the first winter against the demonic beasts.
