Hace poco tuve que salir de mi casa porque tuve algunos problemas con el banco (cosa que comenté en mi post pasado) y aproveché para tomar unas fotitos de la plaza y la iglesia de Juan Griego.
Primero quiero explicarles que este lugar está alejado de las zonas que las personas suelen reconocer como turísticas en la isla. Ojo, no digo que no tenga cosas que apreciar, claro que las tiene, como sus hermosos atardeceres. Sin embargo, es cierto que existe más preferencia por otras áreas de la isla, ya que están mucho más cerca de los centros comerciales.
Aun así, esta linda comunidad nos da la oportunidad de mostrar no solo lo que todos asocian con la isla, sino también mucho más: lugares que poseen su propia belleza, su historia y que forman parte de nuestro día a día.
Aunque Juan Griego es un pueblo algo pequeño, tiene varias plazas. En esta ocasión visité la Plaza Bolívar, que se encuentra justo detrás de la iglesia principal, realmente muy cerca. Es un lugar bastante transitado porque a ambos lados hay tienditas donde las personas hacen sus compras diarias, así que nunca está sola. Además, tiene unos árboles increíbles que dan sombra a toda la plaza, lo cual se agradece mucho porque, si eres de la isla, sabes que el sol nos quiere tanto que brilla con mucha fuerza para expresarlo. En este lugar puedes escapar un ratito de él.
Ese día no había ningún puesto de comida ni alguien vendiendo artesanías, pero también quiero compartirles unas fotos de días anteriores, cuando pasé por allí y un señor estaba sentado haciendo pulseras y collares, mostrando sus más recientes creaciones.
La iglesia de Juan Griego siempre me ha parecido hermosa, y también quería compartirles un poco de ella. Esta vez estaba cerrada, pero aun así le tomé algunas fotos que no ocultan su belleza. Algo que siempre me ha parecido fascinante es que, si estás justo en la entrada de la iglesia mirando hacia afuera, al final de la calle se aprecia la playa. Cuando empieza a caer el sol y aparece el majestuoso atardecer, toda esa calle se convierte en un verdadero espectáculo.

Recently I had to leave my house because I had some problems with the bank (which I mentioned in my last post) and I took the opportunity to take some pictures of the square and the church of Juan Griego.
First I want to explain that this place is far away from the areas that people usually recognize as touristic in the island. I am not saying that it does not have things to appreciate, of course it does, such as its beautiful sunsets. However, it is true that there is more preference for other areas of the island, since they are much closer to the shopping centers.
Even so, this beautiful community gives us the opportunity to show not only what everyone associates with the island, but also much more: places that have their own beauty, history and that are part of our daily life.
Although Juan Griego is a somewhat small town, it has several squares. On this occasion I visited the Plaza Bolivar, which is located just behind the main church, really very close. It is quite a busy place because on both sides there are little shops where people do their daily shopping, so it is never lonely. Also, it has some amazing trees that shade the whole square, which is much appreciated because, if you are from the island, you know that the sun loves us so much that it shines very brightly to express it. In this place you can escape from it for a little while.
That day there was no food stand or anyone selling handicrafts, but I also want to share with you some photos from previous days, when I passed by and a man was sitting there making bracelets and necklaces, showing his most recent creations.
The church of Juan Griego has always been beautiful to me, and I also wanted to share with you a little bit of it. This time it was closed, but I still took some pictures of it that do not hide its beauty. Something I have always found fascinating is that, if you are right at the entrance of the church looking out, at the end of the street you can see the beach. When the sun begins to set and the majestic sunset appears, the whole street becomes a real spectacle.
