Scorpions in the house

Scorpions are more numerous this year than in any year in the oast dince moving to the central Texas hill country.

Almost every evening for the past two to three weeks when i go out on the back porch after night fall and tirn the light on, there are two to three scorpions wandering around.

I go back and get shoes on and step on them and kill them so that that will not sting me or the dog later when we are just relaxing on the back porch.

Well now they have made there way into the house. I was in the office working on my computer and put my barefoot down on the floor right on top of one. It stung my foot right on my little toe. At first i was in a lot of pain and could not believe that i had been stung. I had jumped up and turned all the lights on so that it was very bright in the office.

I searched and.searched for it for about 30 minutes but could not find it. I finally sat back down but leaving all the lights on. I glanced at the floor because i thought i saw a shadow moving and there it was at the eadge of the rug on the opposite side of them room from where it had stung me. Needless to say I killed it

Then two nights later i was aslin bed and I turned over right on top of a scorpion which stung me several times in the back of my thigh. I can not remember waking up and moving that fast in a long time. I stripped the bed in search of it because there was no way i was getting back into bed with that thing around. I finally found it half smashed about five foot from the bed. After it had stung me i was slapping at my leg while jumping out of bed. I must have hit it and stunned it during that time of my frantic movements. I spent several hours on the couch that night before clamming down enough to try to go back to sleep.

I next day i was back in the office again and heard something scratching. It sounded like a small mouse scratching on the wall. I finally located where the sound was coming from. It was from behind a lap board that i use while sitting on a small couch in the office. I had leaned it up against the wall on the floor. When i moved it. This scorpion was behind it. I grabbed my phone got this photo and immediately killed it. It was about three inches long and 1 inch wide. I had never seen one that big yet since moving here.

The exterminators came the next day and sprayed so i am hoping I don’t find them in the house again.

Wow, what a terrifying experience you've been through.
I can’t even imagine the shock of stepping on one barefoot or waking up to one in your bed, so unsettling.
I hope the exterminators’ treatment keeps them out of your house for good.

Me too. Currently I am overly observant so that I do not accidentally get to close to one of them again. The spray should help the issue.

Wow don't blame you for executing scorpions after your experience.

One scorpion has around 25 babies each time so I don't think I even made a dent in their population. They have helped me not like them so to speak. !LOL

Do you know where you can get chicken broth in bulk?

Here at home, I've also caught several of them. I understand they live hidden in corners, closets, under furniture, etc. And they can also spend years there without us noticing. Now, we must be careful to ensure they don't climb onto beds or lodge in clothes or shoes. It's all about maintaining good hygiene and cleanliness in the home, and using insecticides and other products to keep them away @darmst5339.

Thank you. I just need to be more diligent about keeping an eye out for them.

Don’t you hate it when someone answers their own questions?
I do.

Scorpion's bite can be so painful according to those who have experienced it, I don't wish to.

Good you've taken some precautionary measures to curb it. Please stay safe.

Thank you. Yes it is painful. I plan on doing my best to stay safe.

You're most welcome. Good to hear that, please do. Thanks

I feel you on the scorpions. Here in far East Hawai'i we have Vietnamese giant centipede, that has a bite that feels like a burning dagger going into your flesh. I've been bitten by big ones on my feet as I walked on trails at night, and another three times by smaller ones that got into my bed. 😁 🙏 💚 ✨ 🤙

Ouch several times over. Not fun to be bitten by these creatures. Take care.

You said it. No fun at all. Thankfully one hasn't gotten me in a good while. Thanks much, and you as well, my friend. 😁 🙏 💚 ✨ 🤙

Luckily (Alhamdulillah) I haven't been stung by a scorpion (or, I forgot already if I have in my childhood) in my life. But, we find some patients with a scorpion bite. It's a pretty painful condition! Killing those is totally justifiable!

Glad to hear that measures have been taken already! I hope that they won't return to your house and office!

I always tried to be careful around them but these that got me were unexpected.

Great post

Nice to hear that the environment have been sprayed, hopefully it will reduce their presence.

Thank you. Only bad part is that it takes time for them to die.
