As the world keeps revolving so does the work environment, where new cultures are birthed and thanks to technology that have played a major role in the advancement of providing more efficient ways for people to work.
Working is something we find ourselves doing as we grow older, we realize that without work we will be shocked with bills and might run into the bush if we don't pay these bills because they are part of the human race, that is why a popular songwriter said "If you want to eat you must work" This states how important work is for our survival.
The idea of a four-day workweek is something I thought wasn't realistic but then recently I heard a state in my nation has implemented the four-day working week instead of the normal traditional five days then the thought of anything is possible steps in. Sometimes I imagine what such work conditions would be like.
How things would be if I get to work four days a week? Well, I'm the kind of person who loves holidays, I'm actually among those who have wished for an extra day to be added to the weekend cause two days isn't enough, I always look forward to those extra days I get to rest without engaging in any work-related activities.
Little story: After I graduated from the higher institution the first job I had was in an eatery, the working hours weren't conducive but I couldn't complain because I needed the funds coming in, the thing about working in an eatery is the working hours which aren't fixed, the closing time is determined by the customers, and there are days some customers would stay till midnight and as a worker, we are not permitted to complain or even chase the customers out "which I would gladly do" but then the business needs the customer to thrive.
Did I stay long on the job? Well, I didn't cause the working hours weren't conducive for me, every day and every time I was at the eatery, that moment I felt like "the eatery had become my home" cause I spent most of my time there.
Having to work four days a week isn't a bad thing cause it adds an extra day to the weekend "which makes me happy" but then adding the extra working hours "is a no" I've worked in such working conditions before, though the working days were longer but then it wasn't funny, I believe everything has an advantage and disadvantage, I also believe what works for me is likely not to work for the next person.
I feel like, with the current economic condition of my nation, implementing the four-day workweek is something that will be very much appreciated due to the inflation we are experiencing but then extending the working hours would lead to more workload at the office which is gonna lead to an increase in stress and that doesn't sound right.
The whole idea of this is like squeezing five days of work into four days "That is a lot of workload" An employee is likely to struggle with the larger workload. Imagine working twelve to fifteen hours a day for four days "thats suicide".
In conclusion, I'm gonna stick to the traditional five-day workweek with my current working hours.
